High ping Port Elizabeth

Hi Guys,

I'm having massive ping in the PE area? is there a problem that i'm unaware of? how would i know if i'm being throttled? Recently found out that i'm on a 2mb Account but with a 4mb line.

I had massive ping for about two hours now in cape town, but it just dropped now from around 600ms to 60ms (which is still high but better)

EDIT: saw you edit. Yep, you are in a shitty ADSL area. Hopefully you will soon be cutover to the Charlo exchange. Pray.

@MickeyD dam u have me holding thumbs!! i guess there is no ways to request telkom to change me over to the charlo exchange? haha. So sick of high ping! Doing a lot of online gaming and it kills me..

@Chris_H yeah mines up at about 355ms between here and cape town.. its raining here so maybe its the weather or something.. who knows..haha

No, it won't help. How far are you from Welcome Road (where the Telkom exchange is situated)?

@WiseCrack yeah i saw mine went back to normal last night at around 12/1. But i've always had high ping problems, on my old 1mb line especially.Now lately on my new line(2mb) my ping is better but still slightly high. To try and get Telkom to come out and physically look is such a mission! Maybe i just use too much data and Telkom throttles me,who knows..

normally about 30gb a month, but last month(Dec) was alot - 70gb.. but if they throttle does that affect ping or just the download and upload speeds?

I get on average 300gb on a 2mb data account.
You are not even remotely going to be shaped.
When you are throttled at well over 350gb it is not even throttling as you still get decent throughput.
