Tplink, there's two under that brand...tapo or vigi?

Do you want something generic that works with many cameras, or are you asking which brands' cameras & app eco-system works the best? Or since this is the Hikvision thread, are you looking for apps that work with Hikvision?

I have only Hikvision cameras now. I can use the Hikconnect app to view cameras remotely and do things, and it works fine. Loads fairly instant. I've used it before with EZVIZ cameras too. I doubt that you'll be able to use it with other brands.

My NVR system at home runs Frigate, and I have a Tailscale VPN running so that I can access my Frigate instance remotely. This works just as well.

I've had a weird case where I struggle to connect to the cams on WiFi, but they're fairly instant when loading via 5G.
