So just something I've observed recently... It's not a serious issue but I wanted to see if anyone else with the Q8600 has this happen as well.

I get like a bright area on the top left of the screen, as shown in the pic below (the brightness is exaggerated because my phone really exposes alot of night time light, Huawei mate 20 Pro. It's not that bright but visible). This appears when only using local dimming setting on high or medium, and using my Mibox or Telkom lit box. It is apparent when watching a black screen or widescreen movie on youtube or Netflix... However, when I use the native Netflix and YouTube apps which are installed on the TV, with the very same content playing, it doesn't appear at all. Screen is pitch black in that area, with the same picture and local dimming settings... So it's definitely being pushed out from the Mibox or Telkom box. I've tried several HDMI cables and different HDMI ports but result is still the same.

It's only after a while that the screen has been on the homepage of the Android screen that the bright area (top left) appears on dark screens... I can eliminate it by putting the local dimming on low, but the viewing experience with local dimming on high is brilliant, so I don't want it on low.

This morning I checked the TV out again, and low and behold, the bright area (top left) isn't there anymore... So I'm puzzled as to why it appears there from time to time.

Anyone with a mibox willing to check on theirs for me? TV settings are 'Cinema day'... 'backlight 100' and 'local dimming high'.

It's only noticeable in a dark viewing Environment.

Yep, noticed it as well, but like you said I have to do a specific dance to get it to show. I just chose to ignore it because I only really discovered it when testing out localised dimming on High. I end up keeping the localised dimming on Medium now because our lounge area is not very bright and the TV can get bright enough to make my eyes hurt, so the issue doesn't really affect me. May be worth us notifying Hisense for future firmware updates.

Glad to hear that its not only me... Are you also noticing using a Mibox? Not on any other source?

Yes, the TV is incredibly bright. I usually watch content on cinema night mode as the backlight is much lower... But during the day I like cinema day as my TV is situated very near to a big sliding door. The local dimming on high really makes the content pop, colours more vivid and blacks deeply black.

You really appreciate it when you watching some OLED content samples on YouTube. etc.

Correct, only on MiBox and in fact only on YouTube. Haven't actually been able to reproduce it on Netflix to be honest but I assumed it was because Netflix has a lot of HDR content which obviously controls the range.

I have just bought an Xbox One X and need a 4K TV. I am super tempted to pickup this TV, with an eye on the Series X. I know that this unit doesn't have HDMI2.1 and is obviously not as good as the LGC9, but it costs 10k less and is 65" versus the 55C9 for R25k.

anything you guys can add that will help me make up my mind ?

For those who have been playing around with the picture settings.

what is your picture settings that you are currently using?
I use Cinema Day or Cinema night. I only adjusted local dimming to High, back-light to 100 for day and 40 for night.
I disabled any smooth motion effects and I'm very happy with the picture.

Is there something wrong here?

This is my signal info (in settings) when I'm viewing Dolby Vision content on Netflix.

After loadshedding my Q8600 powers on along with the telkom LIT box connected to it. I have played around with the settings but to no avail. Does not happen with my other tv which is also connected to a LIT box. The LIT boxes are always on after a power outage but it also switches the Q8600 on, not the other (Samsung)Tv's. Any ideas? Thanks
