Holiday destination recommendations

Not sure how deep your pockets are but I think Iceland is one amazing country.

Amsterdam (stay cheap in the suburbs)
Istanbul (different world)
For wintersports: Livigno, Italy. (Cheap, mostly tourists from Italy, Belgium and Holland)
 
Spent a just over a week in Santorini, Greece last month. Amazing place. Very chilled if that's what you're after.

Like the title says. What are some good visa-free locations for a first time international traveler like myself to go to?
The reason why I'm thinking of visa-free is because I want something hassle free, similar to local traveling, where I can just book flights, accommodation then pack my bags and just go.
I don't have a budget yet, I'll probably allocate the funds around the destination and what I can do once there.
Also this is a late 2020-thing.

I went last year august, it was our 10yr anniversary. Went to rome, florence, venice and also visited Tuscany, sienna, the venice isles, PISA. All in, we paid approx 65k for the 2 of us for 6 days incl transport between cities, food, tours of Vatican, coliseum, walking tours etc, and spending money.

Since it was our anniversary, we did spring for 4 star hotels minimum, you can find good 3 star hotels. so 30k each I would say is good amount per person depending on what you want to do. Food can be pricey and alcohol can rack up a bill.
 
What about local destinations? Living in jhb, have done the whole lodges and game drive and CPT thing. Any places around JHB worth considering? thinking hartesbespoort or magliesburg but not sure. seems to be mostly spa's.. which i do enjoy :) lol.. any recommendations?

looking for a nice get away with the wife to rest unwind, take in some sights and maybe a few light activities.
 
Any recommendations on where to stay in Ballito for a family? It's been a while since I've been to the coast, usually stay at Umhlanga but still worried about the water contamination etc.

I've stayed at Chakas Cove and La Montagne, was happy with both. Always preferred Ballito to Umhlanga even before the water issues, because of the tidal pool...
 
Let me tag on to this one as well. I am looking for recommendations for a nice coastal holiday. We have been frequenting Mossel Bay area for the last 10+ years, but wouldn't mind seeing some other places as well. Not interested in the west coast, as we enjoy the beach, fishing, etc. What is nice out there (that a cheapskate like me could justify)? April-ish.
