Holiday destination recommendations

Anyone bought flights on edreams before? They are R500 cheaper than the official airlines website?
 
if you dont got alota money and want a cheap place in than i will say nommerbisi is kwai but if you got alota money or a credit card that you did not max than try france i am going there next year
 
Istanbul is freakin awesome. Loved it.

Thailand is also very nice if you want a beachy holiday or modern city vibes in Bangkok.

france is kwaier then thailand thats why im going to go there next year plustens i did hear pogba is from that land so it will make the mense evans more naar when i take photos with him

Used them previously. Worst experience, they give you the cheapest flight ever and when paying some extra charges pop up. For local flights no additions are added or offered like extra baggage and then when i needed to move a flight I was told I couldnt. Do not use them.

Edit: also lots of fine print. Make sure you read it.
 
I ordered a box of Turkey's for the solitary American resident of our town, guess that will be the closest I shall ever be getting...... :oops:

On a side note reading this thread on how these 3rd world countries are doing all they can to encourage tourists to visit with concepts like online visa's , yet The SA gov is doing everything in reverse.....
 
In spite of all the wonderful suggestions above, if you really on a budget, never underestimate our Durbs and CT....

You dont have to go international for a grand experience
 
Vietnam. I did it solo. Super cheap when you are there. Language barrier wasn't an issue. Flew Cathay via HK, otherwise go via Singapore / ME airlines.

Start in Hanoi for 2-3 days then head across to Cat Ba Island (avoids the crowds @ Ha Long) for another 2-3 days. Go kayaking between hundreds of islands, it is surreal really. Go for hikes on some of the larger islands. Stay on a Dragon boat. So much to do!

Then fly south to Dong Hoi (same price as flying Jhb-Durbs with Kulula) and catch a transfer to Phong Nha. I spent 7 days in the jungle there. Rent a scooter and go exploring. Visit some of the worlds largest caves. Use the Easy Tiger Hostel as your base (I stayed in an Airbnb nearby to avoid the crowds) and go from there.

If you want more of a beach / cultural experience, fly to Da Nang and then do Hoi An / Hue (further South from Phong Nha). If you want to do more hiking / trekking, take the train from Hanoi to Sapa and spend a few days there.

In terms of getting around, I arrived and was immediately able to call an Uber. Was the same / cheaper than SA. Ate street food (Pho, Banh mi, Bun cha) all over, had no issues. USD 2 a meal! USD 1 for a beer!

Traveled in the US, Europe, Asia and in Africa - if you a 1st time traveler, Vietnam is perfect. Friendly people, affordable, cultural 'shock', easy to get around, and right now it's not as commercialized as places like Thailand
 
Be aware of weather considerations, if that's important to you. If you're looking at October/November, then Asia is a good idea. I can recommend Sri Lanka, India, Cambodia and Vietnam., All fascinating and cheap. If you're going for a Schengen visa, it is a bit of a hassle, because they want a full itinerary, with booked hotels (you can easily make refundable bookings and cancel after getting the visa) and flights (which are harder to cancel), and many European countries are expensive.
Somewhere no-one else seems to have mentioned is Russia. I fell in love with Moscow over the 6 weeks I was working there, and St Petersburg is as beautiful as any European city. But it was summer. I doubt it's as much fun in winter. Also Georgia is visa free and amazing.

You don't need to enjoy weed to visit Amsterdam it is arguably the most beautiful city in the world, with amazing art galleries and a great history. Also check out Rotterdam if you are interested.

You can also do a trip where you can do something like Amsterdam, Italy and France which lets you experience quiet a lot of different cultures over 3 weeks or so.

I would do something that interests you, Asian countries don't interest me so I don't really want to visit those countries but I'm doing America and Canada next year.
