Sonoff SV. I've done both my gate and garage. Works like a charm and easy to deploy.
 
Does anyone use a Smartthings system at all ?

I like the idea of having camera streaming (and other functions) on my TV ... but on the external cameras side, the ecosystem feels a bit thin. Appears to be Arlo or Ring only ?

Started playing around with this over the weekend. The app was a pain to get up and running. I think it was more of an android issue initially, as it kept downloading to 100%, then restarting at 0%, but I digress. Finally managed to install it on my Samsung A6, but still refuses to work on my the Wife's P30 lite. The app installed the first time and then demands that you login with a compatible browser. None of the recommended browsers work - even their own Samsung Internet Browser does not detect itself and demands that you install a recommended browser.

That is where my adventure started and stopped. Must still pop out my devices and start playing around with it properly.
 
I think I read somewhere in the thread that someone used prestik to hold in the pins for flashing the sonoffs? Was that correct?

I found a POW I want to flash :D

Guilty as charged!

Occasionally you just have to hold it yourself.

I flashed my first Sonoff without the need for holding or prestik. The sonoff was laid to the left with the leads to the right. The "weight" of the cable+usb dongle+usb cable was enough to get the pins to rest at a slight angle when I flashed my Sonoff rf bridge. Worked for me.

Different devices hold the pins differently. Basics are a little iffy. The 16A boards are usually tight.
 
I've only flashed the basics... my other POW was OTA, and the POW2, you guys did.

Getting a RF Bridge from a friend this weekend, so that'll be interesting.

I improvise as required.

The SV’s I recall doing Prestik to either solder or flash them or maybe both.

The rest it’s usually a simple balancing act and then pulling the plug and reconnecting is the tricky part.

The iFan was the biggest hassle as I recall, largely because nobody was sure as I recall or it was a case of both sides of the board.

iFan requires the grounding of the GPIO1 on reboot. Its easy enough with a breadboard.

Prestik works well, I have used it a few times. I made up a lead with the cables in the correct orientation and then put heatshrink on, makes it very easy to just pop in and stick a blob of prestik behind it.
