Home Connecta Flexi

Yes, based on my experience today, one must load airtime before it will work.

The question is how much is enough - is literally R5 enough, or is it based on the Flexi package you loaded previously ?
(they don't state that in the PDF, far as I could see).

(I'd also tried extending the 60 days without loading airtime & it failed).

Try the router, but not sure if it works.

You can add the details of a 2nd SIM in the app, and then use the app to transfer up to 1GB data per month between your main SIM & the 2nd one (in a phone, for eg.).

Cost me R50 altogether ; I don't know what the absolute minimum is, because of Cell C's wording used in the Rollover Ts & Cs pdf - they don't state how much airtime one needs to load, just that it needs to be sufficient (not exact word used, but similar).

EDIT - the other R150 voucher I'll either put towards a new 50 + 50 GB data package at a later stage, or will be used to buy a voice package in a completely separate phone (240 minutes for R99), so it won't go to waste.
My 1TB expires tomorrow - 60 days. Did the rollover. Cost R0. Rollover 411GB of 441GB to 6 Dec '21. If it is true that's = 90 days then.
Let's see what happens tomorrow.

To me, a number of the more important points Cell C could & should have mentioned, were left out of that PDF.

My only guess is that the more expensive packages get the free 30 days (after you've had it for 60 days, from the older packages) that some mentioned further up the thread.

Who knows?

Hi there

You can dial *109#, then follow prompts for Data Roll Over to have the bundle's validity period extended.

What I've figured out is that there's a 3G and LTE tower further away. Then another tower nearer with 2G and LTE. This is the one I connect to. However when it's off I connect to the one further away which is too weak and plonks me onto 3G which fails. Once that happens I have to restart the router as every attempt to connect to LTE will fail. This is a strange setup and I can't set the router to connect to LTE only.

The issue isn't with the network. I know this is going to happen especially with load shedding. It's the setup with the package. If I connect to 3G first it refuses to switch to LTE and I have to restart the modem first. It happens with all towers in the area. I don't know what others' experience is with this but it doesn't happen on other packages and only this one.

I experience my connection going to 3G all the time (twice a day on average.) Router reboot does the trick. Prepaid at this price and I can live with this nuisance.

Yes but I don't understand why it's set up like that. Refusing a 3G connection I can understand but not wanting to then register from a 3G to an LTE tower I can't.

My signal is usually strong enough so it doesn't switch but after load shedding if I'm not there it can get stuck on 3G.

For those who don't understand this package will let you register on a 3G tower which is strange since then it refuses to connect. But then what's even stranger is it won't let you register on an LTE tower while registered on a 3G one and you have to reset the modem to get "no service" first before you can do so.

Yep pretty crappy, in Android you can app force lte only, that works for me

I'm just smart enough to understand that it's annoying but too dumb to realise it shouldn't be like that.

I think I tried this before and it didn't end up working but I'll trial it again. I know about the USSD being disabled.

No luck indeed with my simple 4G only method. After a working for while I got this:

Even though:

Seems to be a particularly crappy network day because the same thing happened again even though I had gone back to Auto selection. Will try 4G only again some other day I reckon.
It just gets better. I can't seem to access international traffic. Had the issue since this quoted post (16h30ish).

The issue is deeper. For some reason last night from 00:15 to just after 02:15 it went down. This is strangely consistent with loadshedding yet it was the tower near me that went off. It always goes off with loadshedding yet this time we didn't have loadshedding so it's a mystery why it goes down when a surrounding area has loadshedding. This wouldn't be an issue with their normal packages as there's both 3G and Vodacom fallback but on LTE only it causes havoc and there's nothing Cell C can do as their network is simply too unreliable to fix.

I seriously need an ETA on that MTN migration but it will probably be when this is no more. Alternatively my only other option is a proper router with antenna. They didn't think this out properly. If someone only has one or two towers to connect to and they go down they are just out of luck. There should be some kind of fallback even if it's only 500kbps.
