Home Connecta Flexi

Just sell Cellc already.

There is no incentive to remain with the network.

They are basically just surviving from the crumbs of the other 3.
Even in the US there's only three major players. This business sector is sadly prone to oligopolistic tinges. Most consumers are not here to chop and change networks (I suspect even if it were easier to do so) and market share is thus thoroughly consolidated.

There are 3 major ones but then a number of smaller geographic ones. We should have gone the same model instead of making everyone roll out everywhere.

Still works most time as 2nd sim in my phone, and will work even better when switches to mtn

Three hundred and thirty million citizens and that land mass will do that. And the smaller players in the US are super small MVNOs, oligopoly be thy name.

It appears that Cell C is making even more changes to the HCF packages. We may now have to pay to extend data after 60 days i.e. after the first rollover has expired. I think the changes are going to be implemented on April 6 2022 so you should try to roll over any unused data that will be expiring before 6th of April otherwise you may lose it if you have already rolled it over previously. See Paragraph 20 below.

This is the SMS that I received advising me of the latest changes ...
Dear Valued Customer. Please be advised that Home Connecta Flexi terms and conditions will change on 6 April. For updated T&Cs, please click here https://www.cellc.co.za/hcftncs Cell C

I moved over to Telkom.

This Cell C deal is pointless now.

For this I wouldn't fault them if everyone else only allows a max of 30 days rollover, and thereafter you lose any remaining data.

This is exactly what's happened to me the past 2 months on MTN via Afrihost - ending March, I lost almost 10 GB Anytime and about the same amount for Night data.

No options available to pay something extra, to roll that data over longer.

I wonder how many Cell C customers have gone elsewhere after all of the changes. I thought that data costs were going to start dropping after the spectrum auction so I think that they might regret having chased away a large number of reliable long-term prepaid customers - I have been using Cell C for the last year and am only considering moving after they decided to modify their HCF packages. Telkom has just launched a 2TB LTE bundle so we may see price drops from most of the operators in the months ahead.

The worst is how Cell C is so out of touch with their users that they think it's actually worth more than what they already charged for less. The last day between the two hours load shedding and the tower just randomly disappearing I haven't been able to use it for half the time. Cell C has no backup at all. It's not even worth what they used to charge having no roaming and only being LTE let alone with all the faults considering there are comparable products that work better and don't have this distinction.

I was under the impression Cell C uses MTN LTE network for their LTE, in particular Home Connecta. Not so?

What's the best month-to-month alternative atm using the MTN LTE network? Thinking Afrihost? MTN direct?

My in laws have been using Cell C HC with decent success, but the value is now gone and the service is crap.

Want to keep them on something month-to-month. I did get them a LTE router that's compatible with MTN / Afrihost fixed LTE so can make the jump quite easily.

For me personally the ability to pop the Cell C HC in my mobile router for holidays and travel was (is?) great, not being "fixed LTE" per se. Worked surprisingly well on the N1/N9 down to the Garden Route on 3 recent trips and supported my WFH (or WF beach ;) ) for weeks on end without issues.

An alternative to Home Connect Flexi - if it fit your life style

Elderly neighbours in their late 70's required a connection for a laptop, tablet and phones

Since they are in bed by 8pm, I set them up with Telkom Unlimited for R229 per month

This package is on from midnite till 7pm - no access during peak time till midnite (5 hrs)

Been using it for the past 2 months and they are very happy with it

Speed is 10mb and FUP is 300 gb per month

Hi,
Cell C have brought back the 100gb package for R199 - 50gb Anytime, 50gb Nite Time, 30 day valid

Was wondering if there is a speed limit on this now - can't test, I moved away when they hiked the price

Anyone brave out there to test ;-)

I have been testing the 100GB for R199 HCF service for the last month and have been very happy so far. I have just successfully rolled over my remaining LTE Power Plan and Nite Connecta data and am hoping that this product continues indefinitely. I had been using the Telkom uncapped after hours service which did not perform very well for me unfortunately.
