Issue is if it catches fire before you can replace it, also struggling to get the right battery now since Covid.
 
Home Connecta Flexi worked throughout our load shedding slot between 18-20h30, while watching DSTVNow on a laptop.

This is now unusable for me. Since this evening when Cell C came back online it keeps latching on to 3G which doesn't work. Every attempt to switch to 4G fails and it goes back to 3G. Inserting my old sim I can switch to 4G but only get one or zero bars signal so the two bar tower is no longer working. It seems when you activate this it becomes fixed to a tower. I can't keep two sims for broadband so I'm not sure if I'll continue using this after these two months.

I advise anybody thinking of getting it to carefully consider if they have only a single tower with good 4G signal that doesn't go down because every time it does or it switches towers you will be without internet.
 
Any feedback regarding the ZTE MF927U? Apart from not being able to choose the best LTE bands, is this device worth purchasing or would it be better to pay a bit more for the Huawei E5576?

There are several reviews of the MF927U on Takealot although the comments regarding very short battery life when streaming are a bit concerning.

Seems the tower is back online again from this morning. Will see how long that lasts. The way Cell C has implemented this is seriously not on for a product that's advertised as mobile broadband.

I get about 98Mbps in germiston with my B618. The router does make a difference, but the tower/signal makes the biggest difference for great speeds. Since we started getting load shedding again this week, my speeds maxed at about 32Mbps though.
 
I decided to leave my SIM card on the All-In-One plan and here are the bonuses that I received after recharging with 3XR50 and 2XR25. You should receive more free data by doing four recharges of R50 instead of one R150 recharge followed by a R50 recharge. There should also be 3X900 minutes of Cell C to Cell C airtime plus 2X300 minutes for the R25 recharges.

The airtime and data only lasts 7 days but it seems worth the effort to recharge onto the All-In-One SIM and then transfer the airtime across to the Home Connecta Flexi SIM for an additional 4GB of data. I will probably recharge the AIO SIM with R50 every week so that I can use the airtime and data throughout the month.

How much airtime can you transfer in a month?
 
According to this link R1000 per day and R10000 per month! I was able to transfer all the airtime on the AIO SIM to the HCF SIM. I am using my free data at the moment.

That is interesting. I don't know if it's still the case but with Vodacom you could only share a percentage of what you loaded.

I am very happy with the freebie. You can also play the Gig-A-Millions Spin & Win promotion when you recharge and possibly pick up a few more gigabytes but that only lasts for 24 hours.

Hi there Were you able to visit the store? Did they sort out the issue? ^SM Just came back from the store. 2 hours of rying to figure out what went wrong and CMS support unable to provide answers they tried a sim swap. Once the sim swap is done we will see if it works. Some system glitch...

To anyone connecting to this plan for the first time I suggest following step 3 of cell c rep's advice in this thread. I didn't register the sim via the app when I got it last night. I'm out of coverage area by less than a kilometre, and I thought meh, I'm stuck with 2mbps down. Then loadshedding at 8pm and it was completely offline (using galaxy a3 to connect btw). It never connected again after loadshedding ended. I read that thread just now and decided to register via app. Now it's giving me 20mbps down. Maybe coincidence, but try registering it.

Hope it gives me enough speed to stream the Formula One this weekend.

Update: So this is the speed I'm getting rn. Test done on mobile while streaming the F1 via dstv app in 720p on PC. The sim is in a different mobile, hotspotting to both of the above, just to be clear.

Only good because nobody else is using their LTE atm? Probably, but we will see.IMG_20210604_105154.jpg

I guess your right. Registered now and getting more than 20 mbs. Someone should try it

Yes I also struggled to decide before the deal ends. I think that it's probably a better choice than the ZTE MF927U for R449 from Cell C which was mentioned previously. I did go and look at the ZTE router and decided that the quality was inferior to the Telkom Huawei E5576 which was selling for a similar price. Shipping is also free.

I registered the SIM number a few days ago ; recharged earlier on this afternoon, in order to do some speedtests and it seems to have made no difference - whether you register or not. Before registering, the most I got was around 18Mbps down and slightly below 10Mbps up.

At least I've proven to myself (for only a R60 recharge) that for much better speeds & significantly lower pings, it's better sticking with Telkom LTE, regardless of whether the Cell C SIM is registered or not.

I wish I could justify supporting Cell C with a 200 GB purchase, but the other concern is how many times a day it will just stop working, as I experienced that with the previous 5 + 5 GB I bought. Will test the current one out more, and then might commit to a 25 + 25 or at most a 50 + 50 GB package, as it's still very reasonable compared to Telkom ... so would then use a mix of Telkom (for more important data requirements), and Cell C (when not that vital).

EDIT : the 25 + 25 isn't even worth it @ R179, as it's so close in price to the 50 + 50 GB @ R199.
