Presumably it's because they expect you to put it towards another data bundle, within a few days (10 days, I'd think, based on my experience), so it keeps feeding the monster.

The previous way they ran it, made it easy to use data for 60 days, then recharge with a new package, whenever you wanted to - as long as the SIM didn't expire ; even then could just get a new one, but this way, if you don't want to lose your rollover data you need to keep loading airtime / converting to data bundles within 10 days, I think.

Did so, and after going through the process to get to airtime balance via USSD code *147#, it still shows 19c.

Quite annoying, mostly because they give all sorts of additional, nonsensical facts in that Rollover T's and C's pdf, but leave out things like the minimum amount one can recharge with to keep data going for another 30 days, and that they'll swallow up that recharged amount after X number of days after the recharge.

@Cell_C please explain.

I've explained.

They need to clarify what I've written is correct (as I'm only guessing from my experience), but you don't get much input from the Cell C rep. (unlike Afrihost sub-forums).

He / she might want to get the affected cellular number from me, implying concern publicly, but behind the scenes I assume nothing would happen.

So, I'm done with Cell C for data.

Done with Cell C and this thing until they sort out the throttling on the towers they lease from MTN. Hardly have seen any improvements.

Hi Amnesia

We have responded to your other post.

Obviously Cell C don't want me using up my last 6 + 6 GB data before it expires ; been like this the whole day where I am & surrounding areas :

ISP: Cell C
Ping: 133ms
Download: 0.24Mbps
Upload: 7.26Mbps

... used MTN data from Afrihost to post this.

Just as well giving this junk up soon, for good.

ISP: Cell C

My performance has also degraded these past 2 days and I'm in KZN. Wonder what's going on?

I just spoke to their technical dept. via customer services on 135.

Was told they're aware of a countrywide problem with lack of data throughput & are working on resolving it.

I'm surprised though, there aren't more complaining on this forum if that's the case.

I also got the same response from Cell C (084135) about there being a countrywide data throughput problem that is presently being worked on. Been pathetic since yesterday.

Hi fam

Our Network Team is currently looking into the matter. We will keep you updated. Apologies for any inconvenience caused.

Yeah, at least the latency & upload speeds have improved :

ISP: Cell C

Maybe by tomorrow or Sunday download speeds will be back to normal ?

Seems to be taking an abnormally long time to resolve.

I'm pretty sure things are back to normal on my front.

Still major issues on my side....

Is it just me or is there a pattern here where speeds are suspiciously capped at 10Mbps when you roam on MTN tower?

I just extended my bundle without any airtime. So I guess this was a way for them to what? Find a compromise whilst still offering value?

Was that a newer 30 day bundle, or one of the previous bundles still, that they used to give 60 days on ?

If 60, then you're very lucky to have been given the option to extend.

If 30 days, then I recall reading (further up the thread) that they give 1 free extension, then after that, you have to keep loading airtime to be given the option to extend.
