thats why i said earlier its different for everyone, some people thrive in homeschooling others don't.

Home schooling is HARD, and requires ALLOT of discipline

That's the point...socially you've checked out by home schooling

Good for you if it works, but it's not something I'd choose for my kids. I think education is much more than academic material and accumulation of knowledge.
 
if it were all about knowledge i'd be doing another type of schooling.

I want wisdom and something i can use not knowledge which i will forget the day after i write my exam.

Wisdom comes with age. It cannot be learnt.

At your age you couldn't have too much of it. How old are you? 17, 18?

Wisdom comes with experience.

I have to agree with Gazer, at our age we may think we are wise... but I some how doubt it. Wisdom comes with experience which comes with age.

In all fairness this isn't really homeschooling but rather what is referred to as distance learning. Home schooling is where your parents educate you at home only exposing you to other experiences periodically and assessments are not sent away for marking/moderating by an outside boy. If you're getting all your study material from an institution, they provide instructors/tutors for those subjects and you write their assessments then it's distance learning.
 
Some of you might remember my thread about Ritalin and my friends kid.


I have decided if I ever have children I’ll never ever let a teacher come close to them with a ten foot pole!!
I’ll get tutors or something.

The school decided that kid should be on Ritalin. The doctor confirmed she (Divorced no allowance from hubby he has the other daughter.) said that she cannot afford these drugs.
The school and doctor promised her they will help her. Now three months down the line she like she said just cannot afford to give this child Ritalin. Both the doctor and the and head master just said well it’s her problem sorry. Now the kid has to go cold turkey.

You probably have guessed these are rather poor people. Or let me say it like this. She takes about R9000 a month home. She pays for everything. And the ex is in the same boat.

Now the other school phones she has to come and pick her daughter (the one who lives with daddy) daddy is not available on his phone.
When she asked the teacher what is wrong.
They were allowed to wear jeans and t shirts to school today.
The head master said jeans not ¾ jeans.
Trying to explain to this woman that it’s difficult to come and fetch the child the teacher just no. Come get the kid let her put on long jeans and then she is allowed to come back. She is forbidden to be on the school grounds with a ¾ jean.
Forbidden!!!
I heard the whole conversations!!
This is our school system?

I swear I’m the rudest loudest **** maker on earth I would have sued the school gone to the papers and made the biggest stink on earth.

My kids would have hated me……

But that’s why I would choose home schooling.
I have met teachers and think 98% of them should have been locked up in the stupid asylum never mind allowed close to kids.

Funny you should think this way, because most teachers think that a majority of parents thesedays are totally unfit to raise children.
