Home Schooling - discuss

Dude, you goto a well known school, and uhm this is the first time i ever hear people helping one another out just because they goto the same school, for me i couldn't care less about social life, i have MY own time which belongs to ME not to my teacher who needs to teach 39 other kids in my class.

Have you ever been to a Home Schooling place? I admit Homeschooling is not for everyone but i learn SOO much more at home than i would've at school...
I have heard stories from old boys themselves, maybe its because of the, dont know how to describe it... loyalty? Or recognition? Of the school but just sharing the same school can help a lot. I am sure it happens at other schools too (the decent ones at least) but I can assure you, going to a decent school, is more impressive (not quite the right word) on your CV than having home schooled written there.

We are big classes but we cope and in fact we excel, as for the social life, thats your call. I have never been to a "home schooling place" (Wouldnt that be a home :D?) but I do know a family whose kids are all home schooled and you can see from the way they interact that something is missing, although not everyone is like that I would assume

Edit: The below post is also true.
And what grade are you in? And I can assure you, my level of education is not very different from yours. You dont learn SOO much more, you learn whats in the text book, I learn whats in the text book PLUS the well educated teachers who specialises in his/her subject opinion, knowledge, and tips.

Are you going to cope in a class of 500 students at varsity?

I will quite possibly cope better than most, i have met quite a few homeschoolers who say university is easier than school for them.

My name is Peder please...

I am Currently Busy with Grade 11(IGCSE), And i can assure you i learn everything in the textbook aswell as any additional info on the internet...

Often university isn't about coping on your own. A lot of group work is involved and if you're not socially adept then it's going to be difficult to fit in...

[It will help if you don't go in with an arrogant attitude]

i don't feel i'm better and i did not mean to come across in that way its just most think us as homeschoolers are Stupid, or thats how it seems.

You guys seem to think we are people who aren't able to have a decent conversation or have friends because we don't "seem" to come out as much as a "normal" schoolkid

The old boy's network is very important. It often helps to get the foot in the door.

my School on my CV won't have Home Schooled written there, it will be BIDC or Cambridge University.

You'll have to get accreditation for it from SAQA before you apply at university (unless you intend writing the NSC)

So same grade as me. I doubt that there is much of a difference in our education. Any info on the internet, I can have the same if I like, plus the teachers knowledge who has been teaching kids for many many years and they know how to best prepare us for exams.

Oh and sorry bout the name, it just comes out like that everytime I type it :D
oh and did i forget to mention i have a student advisor for every subject?
You did forget :D
So what exactly do these advisors do?

Thank you Gazer.
See, its not all bull Peder :D

Yeah but how many schools have old boys networks?

These advisors mark our Assignments and help with whatever of the work we don't understand, they are full time teachers in the college where we do distance study.

If you look above you will see info about my schooling.

Most half decent schools and up, which I am sure you would have attended had you not been home schooled. I still prefer teacher to advisor :D
