Homemade Pizza

Pumpkin, black forest ham and rocket with a crumbled feta. This base recipe was a failure. IMG_20211016_171537.jpg

Long story short, was going to toss the built in megamaster and pop an Alva gas and cibo pizza thingy in.

Realised how kak cleaning a gas braai is and decided against it and will just "renovate" the braai. Watch this space.

Now the reason I'm here is this

Anyone use this or something similar want to maybe get one of these and make the most of this space.

Would you recommend it?

Sorry, no help on this one - not a product I know at all. Can add that having a proper pizza oven is a fantastic investment.

Do you guys prebake the pizza base for 5 minutes or so? After smearing it with olive oil and tomato sauce ? And then put toppings & cheese and then bake it properly ?

LOL - saw it done in Polpetta and pizza was great. I believe owner is Italian.
There shouldn't be any need to pre cook your bases if your oven is hot enough. They claim to be using wood fired ovens on their website so it seems odd they would be doing that.

If you have a weber kettle then the kettleCaddy is worth looking at.

It does look like pre-bake or parbake is a thing. Maybe it is prevalent in certain parts of Italy? /shrugs

The first link is Learn how to par bake pizza dough to freeze or bake later. - IOW not fresh. FWIW fresh dough freezes well.

In the second the writer is suggesting the authentic "Italian way" is to make it in a 200°c oven? They're baking bread and throwing cheese and sauce on it later.

You seem really keen to precook your bases so go for it. You're eating it after all. :)
