Yeah, MKBHD and some other techtubers were predicting $199 as the correct price point for HomePod to be successful. Is he saying that it's still too expensive or what?
He is questioning Apple's weird approach/strategy on the HomePod line.Is he saying that it's still too expensive or what?
None of that speaks to any differences in audio quality though. AirPods Pro 1st and 2nd gen are a world away in audio quality. These could also be an appreciable step up from the already good HomePod 1st gen.Differences between Gen 1 & Gen 2. As you can see in some aspects a downgrade.
You mean this? https://support.apple.com/en-za/HT207117My primary issue and why there aren’t 2 x HomePods on my shopping list is that I can’t use it with anything but my Apple kit.
If the Apple TV just had some kind of passthrough for audio from the TV directly or even better the HomePods did Arc directly it would be an easy sale.

Does that mean that the ATV connected to your TV will pass all TV sound to the homepod ie even stuff not played using the ATV? so your ATV behaves like a soundbar thats connected via HDMI to your TV
Apparently so. Just watched this
For what its worth, Dolby Atmos “should” work with most streaming services over regular old ARC:That’s very interesting.
I suspect Dolby Atmos won’t work or only work if you have eArc and HDMI 2.1.
Might just test it later.

Oh you need the latest Apple TV, so maybe why I wasn’t aware as I don’t have the setting.
ARC can, however, allow you to receive Dolby Atmos audio from streaming services such as Netflix, Disney Plus and Amazon Prime Video, as these services embed Dolby Atmos in the lossy Dolby Digital Plus format which ARC can handle.
