HomePod mini

Day one purchase for me once they hit iStore. Hopefully they do better than the HomePod Mini.

Is he saying that it's still too expensive or what?
Yeah, MKBHD and some other techtubers were predicting $199 as the correct price point for HomePod to be successful.

Personally I just care about audio quality. I'd much rather pay more and get more when it comes to something so important.

My primary issue and why there aren’t 2 x HomePods on my shopping list is that I can’t use it with anything but my Apple kit.

If the Apple TV just had some kind of passthrough for audio from the TV directly or even better the HomePods did Arc directly it would be an easy sale.

That’s very interesting.

I suspect Dolby Atmos won’t work or only work if you have eArc and HDMI 2.1.

Might just test it later.

Oh you need the latest Apple TV, so maybe why I wasn’t aware as I don’t have the setting.
For what its worth, Dolby Atmos “should” work with most streaming services over regular old ARC:

ARC can, however, allow you to receive Dolby Atmos audio from streaming services such as Netflix, Disney Plus and Amazon Prime Video, as these services embed Dolby Atmos in the lossy Dolby Digital Plus format which ARC can handle.

It’s usually no problem from the TV itself but falls apart when it’s a third device in the chain connected to the TV because it tries to process it.

Apple TV works because it only sends LPCM as I recall but other devices use Bitstream or the codec is different or whatever so with like the Xbox right now I can’t not plug it directly into soundbar.

I have achieved equilibrium

Well almost (it's high but outside it's 85%)

My HomePod mini constantly asks for the Apple ID password and refuses to work. It does this at least 4/5 times a day. Anyone else experiencing this, and any solutions? I’ve tried restoring it
