HomePod mini

Just picked up one of these over the weekend

Bought used so saved a bit, just had to deal with the crappy colour they chose (Blue)

So far, quite impressed when compared to my Google Home Hub. That assistant was deaf half the time

The problem is rather that you need to spend $818.

:)
After my HomePod Mini experience, not a damn am I taking a gamble on two big ones. I'll get one, and maybe another a month or two down the line if that thing is godmode good.

Also, finally the review I was waiting for:

Wait…wtf are Daily Siri Updates?

It’s exactly what I thought it would be except unlike Alexa it doesn’t do it automatically and you need to ask.

Need to fiddle with Shortcuts and see if I can make it auto run after my alarm or even as my alarm.

That’s just the thing. For the money of one HomePod I’d rather just buy 4 more Mini’s and literally put them in every room and finally do stereo in my bedroom.

On the other hand every review I’ve read says the HomePod 2 needs stereo to really be truly awesome and that’s just madness.

YouTube Music is now officially supported on Apple HomePod

Before you head on to the comment section to inform us that playing music from YouTube Music on Apple HomePod has already been possible for a while now – we know. That is kind of the case since the ability to cast audio from the app to a HomePod device is indeed already a thing you can do.

The YouTube Music product team recently announced deeper integration with HomePod and its voice commands in particular. Now Premium and Music Premium subscribers can just integrate YouTube Music as a playback service inside HomePod. This enables voice commands such as "Hey Siri, play music on YouTube Music". Your phone no longer needs to be involved in the playback process at all.

One thing is purely profit in and of itself.

The other is likely making no money or even being subsidised because it makes profit by selling other products.

They also compete in entirely different markets that each have their own supply and demand thresholds.
Same with the Apple TV being sold at cost as well.

These work great. The Mac just don't stay connected to them when not used with Airplay but atleast when they disconnect I know they'll connect again manually.

What do you mean not used with Airplay? You can only use them with AirPlay.

So one of my three Homepod Mini's have started acting up, in that it started playing music by itself randomly. I wiped it down thoroughly, reset it, removed it from the home app and set it up as new again. While hasn't started playing music again (yet), it did react reandomly as if it had received Siri commands and there is nobody \ nothing else in the house saying anything that sounds remotely like "Siri" or "Hey Siri". There is some ambient noise, but it's perpetually there and it never triggered any of the Homepod mini's before. In the end I had to disable the Listen of Hey Siri option on this particular Homepod Mini, which is unfortunate as that is one of the selling points of having an Apple smart speaker in the first place.
