HoN did a number on my cap...
I need a beta key![]()
According to their latest news, when their facebook group gets 100 000 people they'll go open beta snd gve keys to all the groups members.ask pjoub06- hopefully he will give you one if he still has left.
yeah it's about 40MB per game
but I just can't stop!
Has anyone fought Kongor yet? he seems weaker than before![]()
really 40mb? wow... is that for hosting AND just playing?
According to their latest news, when their facebook group gets 100 000 people they'll go open beta snd gve keys to all the groups members.
When we hit 10,000 fans we will open up our beta to all our facebook friends. I know that number seems big but consider the fact that we've grown almost 3000 friends in less than a week. I am guessing we could be there in 10 days. Let's do it!
So i have been beta testing HON for some time now and whether you (Devs) like it or not, i'm going to give some harsh feedback, constructive and some bitter.
1) Why is S2 Games relying heavily on word of mouth advertising to promote this game, the devs seem to be handing out beta keys just to give it to every Tom, Dick and Harry? I know you guys are stress testing supposedly but isn't that why open beta is there for?
* Why choose this method of advertising, are you looking for your beta testers and facebook page to advertise this game.
* Are you planning any other form of advertising on actual gaming websites such as gamespot or the umpteen million gaming websites out there other than your facebook page, which by the way isn't a gaming website. Facebook is a social network site/tool which I am not very fond of. Yes, facebook blows...there I said it...
* Are the developers afraid to preview this game in an actual gaming website because it might be called, "clones, rip-offs, copy-paste.etc"
2) What are the devs doing to help newbs, as in newer players to the genre escpecially the ones who have never played dota. Is the plan to market the game towards the dota demographic only?
* I have had many years of experience with dota but I have friends who won't touch Dota, I would like to recommend this game to them but this game has the same problems as Dota does, the very high learning curve.
* Tutorials/Bots/any form of single player to get acclamatised to the game would really be helpfull.
Yes, I am a bit straight forward and I don't like to suck up a lot, some people might get offended but that's just the way it is. Don't get me wrong, the game is really good but I need to just get my questions answered or just need to put it out there.
1.) Because we haven't even announced the game. Moreover, word-of-mouth is by FAR the best form of advertising. However, it is not that easy to ignite.
We have plenty of PR work and advertising set up when the game is ready to be announced.
2.) It is called controlled growth but at a decent pace. We need testers, a lot of them, but we're not prepared to just open up the gates to Open Beta.
Our target market is DotA players. Until we feel we are satisfied making product SPECIFICALLY for us (I say cuz we're all players ourselves) we will not spend resources on tutorials, AI, etc...
Be straight forward all you want, it makes reading between the lines a helluva lot easier
You can grab a key here if your fast enough.

+-30 meg for a 45min game.
The good news is you can lower the bitrate and save some cap making it about 25meg for a hour game.
In the startup.cfg
SetSave svr_maxbps "9000"
instead of 20000
thanks for this where abouts is that file located? Im running the linux client of hte game and cant find that file in the folder?
What the heck is the HoN? I have never heard of it up until now. I thought the game equivalent to that of Dota that was coming out is League of Legends. HeroesofNewerth.com is just a picture. No info about the game, or anything. How are we supposed to know this game exists other than through facebook?
