I still have 1 more key left - nobody want it?

EDIT: actually it seems like MyBB doesn't know what HoN is, hasn't seen this thread or do not play dotA anymore - i'll give it away to some lucky guy that's interested in the game at a LAN i'm going to this weekend.....

we need to create an SA server for us SA Guys!

Indeed we do!

There has already been talk about that on their forums here.

Show some support!

Ok, wishblade got one, Kill love has his now, got another 1 more.

As I've said in some other thread, I have 3 invites left, if you want one, PM me.

Oh and HoN rules ^-^

PS If you send in bug reports they will reward you with keys - i'm guessing a lot of people just play the game because it's so awesome, and forget about reporting bugs...

OK, can someone give me a rundown of what to expect...

I got the client installed, and updated, etc, etc and everything appears to be working well. Now I'm not exactly great at DOTA as it is, but a couple of things I noticed thus far:

1. The lowest ping games I can see are a little more than 300 - I guess all the games are overseas based, but won't this affect the game play negatively for me? A game of DOTA on the war3 server with a ping of 300 gets you nowhere :)

2. Since I can't load a local game to prepare myself, how does the game progress? I see there are 2 maps available? are the hero the same, are the abilities of each hero the same as in DOTA? also, are the shop items similar to DOTA? The main reason I ask is because I don't want to get into the game, stand around trying to find out wtf is going on, and then getting "NOOB" plastered all over my screen!

3. I read in posts above that the bandwidth usage is quite high - but is 5.5 MB just for logging into the game normal? Just curious...

Initial look and feel is very promising thus far... so when does everyone here play?

1. yep 300-400 ping but it plays fine. playing on 3G and only now and again see a lag....

2. you can either (a) practice dota, or (b) host a game and tick "private" which would block anyone else from playing with you - but then you can't REALLY practice since there is nobody to fight against, only creeps.

I'd suggest just join a game - everyone does that. you will get the hang of it. just join a NOOB game (that's what it will be called) and start learning. the hero's and shop items are almost exactly the same in dota - but with other names and graphics. there are a few new heroes too, though.

3. yep - it's quite capable of playing well on a 300-400ms ping but the downside is it consumes a lot of cap. expect to see about 40MB's of usage per game session of +- 40 mins. but it's worth it =)

I play this every day from 6 - 9,10,11,12,or 1:00am depending on how much they pwn my ass.

Edit: And i didn't really like DotA THAT much - but this game is definitely addictive. I understand where you WoW oaks are coming from now.....sorry for the flaming WoW'ers

i've got a free key as well, to anyone that sends me their e-mail.

Ah, ok, the reason for point 1 was I just wanted to have a quick look at the setup, look at the items, requirements thereof and heroes, etc so I know what to expect when joining in. I don't mind surprises, but when I run into an area and oops, there I die, I want to know that it was x who did it to me, and it may help to have y to kick his balls in until the bleed became :D

I was going to have a game or two tonight, just to get the feel of it. The bandwidth usage I guess is comparable to having a round or two of BF2 (if it is at around 40MB per game), I was just a little surprised having only used about 4 or 5 MB when playing DOTA.
But hey, if 300-400ms ping is playable, then awesome.

One more thing though - I notice that some games in the list have a varying number of total slots available - I'm guessing that a game can have more than the dota 5 or 6 per side? Also, can you join a game when it has already started? :D

well once it's started, it's started.

cool thing i noticed though - if your connection disconnects, you can re-connect back into the game! pretty awesome if you ask me!

it's not like dota that when 1 person lags, the rest of the players suffer with stupid error messages...

Only 5 vs 5 for now, the extra slots is for spectators and referees.

Think it's 5 spectators, 2 referees total allowed. So the player count could show up as 17/10.
