Horible experience with KIA!!!!

Sounds like the service I had from Kia Randburg - crap... and then Kia Tableview trying to sell me an accident damaged vehicle.

Dealers workshops are very dishonest their knee jerk reaction is to deny any and all liability. I once had a problem with the alarm in my car going off on its and realised the interior monitor must be faulty. Took it to the dealers and told them to replace, but they rummaged through the wiring and when they returned the car the aircon controller only heated up the car. The original issue wasn't fixed even when I diagnosed it for them. Took it back and they refused to do anything about it. Took a call to VWSA to get them to admit checking through the alarm wiring and reconnecting them wrong, not sure how they managed to get to the aircon controls while working on the alarm.

I was uber pissed off. They tried to say book the car in and I said bull****, you ****ed it up and you fix it while I have a cup of coffee here. Now!

Looking back would you rather have your car with the rattle before this whole nightmare started?

I know I would and that's usually how I approach dealers these days, once bitten

Post your experience on their Facebook page.

Probably won't get you far, I tried that - hellopeter - and their customer service thing on their website. I got the generic "we'll investigate" from all of them, that was it.

Worst part is, I was attempting to BUY a vehicle, you'd swear that's when you would get service.

Looking forward three years from now with a seized steering column and out of warranty?? A replacement unit cost the warranty R29500 without labor.

My Rio developed a rattle in the dashboard wich was a very common problem on the kia rio,a TSB was issued from kia south korea on how to fix the problem.I booked my vehicle in and the problem was fixed.

Please tell me when your rattle started and when you managed to get it sorted? Also, would it be possible for forward me a copy of the TSB (if you have it).

I've been trying to get them to repair the rattle in mine since October. I too can create a long thread listing their incompetency / number of times I've taken the car in :P

Worked for me and my SO.

You're lucky, I eventually got the vehicle.

The didn't load the maintenance plan I paid for, found that out at the first service, lost access to the car for three days will the service consultant resolved it. And then when my wife got a flat there was no lock-key for the wheels, we had to have the bolts drilled out.

You're speculating that the steering column would have seized in the next three years. It could have never seized or seized 10years from now. There's no guarantee what would have happened but now you have a guaranteed botched steering column and scratched up dials and interior. That's all i'm saying. But anyways one can't go back in time all you can do now is bjtch and moan and hope someone listens at some point or spend more money and take legal action.

It starts out with a loud "thump" noise right in the centre of the dashboard, after a while the dashboard becomes loose, grab the dashboard on the support crash pad in the front passenger seat, try moving the whole dashboard front and backwards, if it is loose, they have to fix!!

But be prepared for a hell of a fight!!!

you will most probably end up at head office begging on your knees to fix their Fu@k-ups

Note to self, dont buy a POS KIA.

There is absolutely nothing wrong with Kia's cars. The car I have is awesome, and definitely the best in it's class for the money I paid. I test drove similarly priced cars and found them to be quite sub-par.

Saying that, the dealerships aftersales service is horrible. I'd be inclined to agree with you if you were talking about that being a POS.

Aah thanks. I remember seeing those documents on that Kia website. I assumed that mine wouldn't be included because I bought it in 2013. Perhaps I have a different noise coming from mine.

is the rattle in front of the dashboard? where the windscreen meets the dash?

100 %, every car manufacturer has problem here and there, it is how those problems are dealt with. The shear arrogance of some KIA dealerships is unbelievable! The main problem is they fix one small problem but create another two big ones.

Bad service is a very good reason not to buy a certain car. This kind of service seems to be common with the Koreans. You recommended the Rio in another thread, without mentioning your issues with the dealers... Why?
