I can see this going south but anyways. One of the guys I work for has a website and it is down. Their email is down. It is at host4africa, who have no contact details and the only reply I get from these guys is that the domain owner must contact them but he can't because the email is not working. Try and explain that and raymond tells me I am not the domain owner. These guys must hate business if they are not prepared to even look at the domain and see that it is down.

Anybody have any idea how I can contact them?

That's a bad one. Googling "host4africa telephone" just shows lots of people who have the same problem that they can't contact Host4Africa. :(

Thanks MI Host

These details (except that tel no) are listed on their website - and through a search here on MyBB. That Cell no is of another person unrelated to this matter. She is tired of the calls and just hangs up.

My recommendation to anyone searching for a host is to avoid any that does not have a support contact number. I found a UK number for an obviously affiliated company but when I called them, they said H4A has no number and they can't help and and and.

Ridiculous. These guys obviously don't want to stay open and don't realise the damage their reputation suffers when threads like this pop up all over. If I had known they were this, I would've told my guys to use someone else.

I will have to move this domain one day if they don't come to the party. Say, with the way uniforum has changed, is this as easy as sending through a ticket request? Or has that all changed?

Exactly - imagine my frustration. Numbers that they use to register things seem to belong to other people as well - those people must be pissed. Or, part of the front...

You should be able to transfer the domains without the need of the registrar's approval as long as its a .co.za if the domain is anything but .co.za you will have a little bit of a hard time.

With the .co.za the request for a transfer is sent and if its approved by the owner of the domain (it is sent via email) then the transfer continues. We have transfered many domains to and from.

Does this answer your question?

I'd imagine such a shoddy host wouldn't have the owner's mail listed on the domain details instead using their own,so the transfer tickets might not reach him

Erm,no. I have done this a thousand time before so the above I know. What I do not know is if anything changed recently with EPP etc.

Hi

Also they get domain billing through this email [email protected]

Not sure if you can contact them through that email address.

And after a VAT search i got nothing but their offices are in pretoria :(

Sorry for the problems, I will continue to dig up information, pop me an email at [email protected] if you need me to search something.

Apologies for me not answering your query.

Not much has changed for the registrant so you can carry on transfering, the main new changes are for the accreditation processes of the registrar and so on.

Thanks Paul - much appreciated.

@GreGorGy & @MI HOST

Actually a lot has changed on EPP that would solve most of the issues you have here.
Firstly, as an accredited Registrar with .co.za you need to complete both admin & technical accreditation processes. ZACR then validate the information so they will have all the Registrars information in order to get hold of them. This will reflect on line 1c Registrar of the WHOIS.
Secondly, according to the Registrar accreditation agreement the Registrants details MUST reflect on the WHOIS for the Registrant (line 2a) and the registrant email address.
Those two points alone would have solved this issue.

If Host4Africa was a reseller of a Registrar then the registrant of the domain would be able to get hold of the reseller to solve this.

However as Host4Africa are still on the old Legacy system they probably don’t have sufficient knowledge to become a Registrar but they could always become a Reseller

Hope this helps

Bit of a fail if the only email address the account owner has is connected to the Host4Africa account.
Always sign up for a web hosting package with an email address not associated with the account, in the event that there's a problem with the account or it becomes suspended. Otherwise the host has no way of contacting you.

Ja - that is not part of the issue here and the email attached is not associated with the H4A domain. There are a few more complexities unrelated to the basic piss poor support I received but they are not relevant in this context - nor to the support from H4A - so I will omit them.

And we're back to square one - broken again. No contact again.

Anyone wanting to use Host4Africa hopefully finds this thread.

Hi Gregorgy,

Have you read through the following on Uniforum's website
http://co.za/legal-FAQ.shtml

In particular, form B may assist in getting the matter resolved.
If you need any assistance in this regard then feel free to PM me and I'll see if I can get some assistance from the Legal team at Uniforum on your behalf.

I always get Raymond or Matthew at Host4africa. I only use the [email protected] email and they get back to me within two hours.

Been with them for almost 6 years and besides them being expensive have always had good support when I have issues....

I take that back..... it would appear that their mail servers are down, as I cannot logon to any of my email accounts.... when trying to email them, I get nothing back, not even the usual automated reply....... seven hours and counting.....
