Hosting a website using iBurst: Some help needed

Ok then, say I have the domain registered and parked with iBurst called xyz.com that points to a static IP that I have with iBurst.

When I ping xyz.com, I get a reply, but what I'd like is the www. in front.

How do I allow my web server to be accessed through both xyz.com and www.xyz.com.

Some help would be greatly appreciated.

Thought as much, unfortunately, when I contacted them they gave me a long explanation as to why they don't do that, so I replied and told them that its just a case of adding the DNS host (A) report for the host www. into the domain xyz.com.

Looks like someone who registered your domain names doesn't know what a dns is and how to add certain records

If you got a hosting company to register it and they have their own name servers, then I don't understand why they wouldn't do that. If they give you too much hassles why not just a dynamic dns service and manage it yourself.

btw, it's a cname record not A

Normally they have A record set up to point to your ip and a cname record to point www.xyz.com to xyz.com

If it's a .com and you registered it with a registrar, they should give you the option of adding your own name servers. If that is the case then use a dynamic ip service and then you'll be able to add as many records as you want!

Why not manage your own dns with something like www.zoneedit.com and then just do it yourself?

Sweet man, thanks for the help. I reakon the guys that setup this thing don't quite understand what it is I'm looking for. They think I want to host with them for some or other reason. I don't want to go with DynDNS right now because I've paid to have the domains transferred, so I reakon they should set it up properly, otherwise I've wasted my money.
