MTN: Updates to Jelly Bean sooner, or at least a date when we can expect the Jelly Bean update :)

Data coverage is abysmal, certainly in the areas I frequent, which also are by no means considered rural in the greater scheme of things (metro DBN/PMB). Heard lots of similar complaints from friends/family too.

In this day and age of increased mobile data usage, struggling with an unusable EDGE connection does not cut it. It forced me to move network after being with MTN since 1996.

Well, there's the "BIS" type service for android (as every android user has requested already at some stage). Nashual Mobile is implementing it now, would be nice if MTN could do the same.

Then, I would like to be able to buy other services (ie. data/sms bundles) with my airtime. I have about R1700 in accumulated airtime that's going to waste, but I'm always in need of data as you know Android is data hungry but have to pay extra for it.

other than that, keep up the good work MTN

Dropped calls still abound, there are some areas, even in Gauteng that are overloaded and too far from base stations.

The call centers can be greatly improved.

Their coverage map is way out. It shows that I am in 42mbps coverage but I barely get 3g. It usually goes to to 2g and for modern browsers 2g speed is so low it times out.

Online account management is also not up to scratch.

Better pricing on data add-ons.

MTN need to get better coverage. Have sent multiple emails to them regarding improving reception is the area I stay in(Weltevreden Park, Rooderpoort, Johannesburg), as I can not even make use of basic features such as phone calls.

Sad thing is that I have not received any response thus far and its been 2 months. Disappointing.

MTN can improve thier broadband offering by:
1. Increasing their coverage, so that all areas have strong signals (if I find another provider with a better signal I will obviously use them)
2. Set up an Service level agreement with users. This can contain things such as a guaranteed minimum speed (if I know that MTN is giving me at least minimum speeds or lets say X kbps, i would definitely stay with them)
3. Yes this does come down to cost, cheaper for the user is obviously more attractive ( I pay R289 for 1GB of data, but if I got the telkom route, I can get an adsl line which means faster speeds and for a litle more I get more data.)

I'm very happy so far with MTN. I would be even happier if data could be added to the MTN zone portfolio, so at times data would be cheaper or even free for a certain period of time, even if it is from 1am until 4am in the morning

1) Make customer service your no 1 priority. You could and should do much better.

2) With my current MTN contract that is a year old there have been several problems with my account.
Deducting an additional R 200 from my bank account for no reason. (I was told I can get it back as airtime - can not be transferred back into my bank account or credit my account)

2) My statement is never correct. (For the past 6 months I did not use my contract MTN sim as it is too expensive - I used my pay as you go 8ta sim) but still every month I am charged for "packet switched data calls" If I complain about that, I'm simply told that the matter will be escalated and I will be contacted shortly. BUT I NEVER GET A CALL BACK (See what I'm saying about customer service should be your no1 priority?) nor can any of the countless customer service operators explain to me what the hell packet switched data calls are. Then the next month I am credited R 20 or so. The packet switched data calls that is on my statement is never more then R 20. But what I can never ascertain is why it is there in the first place.

3) The R100 I get as airtime on my topup contract every month should be mine to use as I please.
For example: I almost never use the R 100 i get to make calls as it is way too expensive.
Therefor I currently have almost R 600 and I would really rather use it to buy a data bundle. But I can't as I get an error message stating that I do not have sufficient funds available. After phoning customer service i'm told that I would have to load a prepaid voucher before I can buy a data bundle.

I will not renew my contract and have already ported my MTN pay as you go number to 8ta because of the reasons listed above.

MTN for starters need to jack up their data speed and more important their ping/latency. local games 150+ping OMF really.?
international games it jumps from 400ms to 2500ms. Also wake the data support people up and educate them. I speak about latency they go "mmmmm yes thats not important right now at least u have a connection". The price per package or data. Why do the ISP's that leach of MTN get cheaper data deals and bugger bundles than the people who actually belong on the MTN network and have been so for years. Why rip of the loyal customers than the people who leach off us. I life 20km away from Cape Town center and i get 1/4 of the speed. In town i get 10+mbps on my dongle speed but at home i get 1-2mbps like midnight or something. UPGRADE the towers for more users.

Sort out slow speeds. It seems to be wherever I go I will have slow speeds on MTN. Full signal, slow speeds.

New packages need to be brought out that wont rip customers a new one everytime.

Seriously, stop selling 24 month cellphone contracts with only 12 months of included data, your not fooling anyone!

I would like much better web based reporting and account management. The current system is hard to navigate, information is very delayed, and doesn't have the level of detail I would like. Have a look at the WebAfrica daily/monthly usage, connections, purchasing of data. I find that system easy to use, accurate and gives me what I need.

It would also be nice to have say 5 days grace in a new month to purchase a new data bundle to allow a roll over of the previous month. An additional sms reminder that you have an expired data bundle with xxxMb remaining, you have nDays to buy a new bundle to roll over the remaining. It irritates me that I get one reminder and as soon as the new month starts I've lost Mb. Okay so I could be more organised, but it would make me happier to have a second chance.

Now if there were a really well designed mobile app (Android for me please) from where I could manage my account and top immediately, that would also be nice...

Customer service has minimal knowledge of the products they have.Answers vary from one consultant to the other.
I find the service they offer via Social Media, FACEBOOK, ONE GET FASTER RESPONSE.
