I already have a DSTV subscription and an old decoder(990). So clever me goes off this weekend and buys a HD PVR 2. And gets the number of an installer. The guy calls this morning and tells me that I now need to get 2 subscriptions and that I need to purchase another little decoder....and I ask him why and he says the old one isnt compatible. So I call multichoice and they say no I needed to purchase a dualview decoder. So I call the shop back, and they say a dual view decoder doesnt exist anymore(yay multichoice consultant :wtf:

Can someone please help, I just want my new HD PVR connected to my HD TV, and the old one still on the old TV and 1 subscription.... is this even possible:confused:

I believe what you are looking for is extraview, you will unfortunately have to use the 1xxx series of decoder you can't unfortunately use the 990 series, since it does not support xtraview

Its a relatively painless installation you just need the two decoders to be connected via a aerial cable, then you need to run a cable from the dish as well...

you want extra view, the dsd990 is not compatible with extravie, so if you want that you need to buy a dsd 1132 they go for about R300 bucks,
subscription will still be 1 subscription.

You don't need another subscription but you do need a 1131 decoder and keep the HD PVR. Then Xtraview the decoders on your old subscription. Costs an extra R60 per month, only. And phone Multichoice and complain that they don't know their own packages. Also phone the muppet that advised you to get another subscription and tell him he's a muppet. Probably a fly by night anyway.
