How do you clean your spectacles?

When my spectacles get too dirty, I usually put on some porn on the pc and start to fap. I then proceed to wipe all of the precum from my penis on to the lens of the glasses and then use my shirt to wipe it in circles until the glasses are sparkling clean.

I usually just call my wife and go honey I can't see a thing with these frikken glasses...maybe I should try your way, except it feels like effort.

If you're a cheapskate, avoid the toilet paper.

Wash them with soap every now and then to get any oily bits off then dry with a tissue

Ok....I just made the most amazing discovery in the spectacle wearing era thanks to the development of laptop screens. I forgot my case in the car in which my little spectacle lappie is to be found. It is thundering outside so dont wanna go out now. THEN I HAD A IDEA!

Took the little spray bottle of laptop screen cleaning gel .... sprayed some toilet paper ... gave the lenses a rub or two. CLEAN AS A WHISTLE! With the heavy breathing on the lenses and then rub with the enclosed lappie method ... I would rub and rub and rub .... and still the lenses would be "dull"

With this a quick rub on each lense and it is nice and clean.

BTW ... where the F does these smudges even come from anyway? They keep on forming in the inner top corners of the lens? HOW???? I never touch them there? WTF???

My glasses also love getting dirty without me touching the lenses...

Your eyebrows ...

I never use those small cloths coming with the specs. They pick up fatty dirt easily which tend to smudge rather than clean the glass. Invest in some microfibre cloths you get from supermarkets, the very fine nearly shiny hairy bristles not those cheapish at the washing sections. Works great for me.

Alternately the electronic or PC screen wet-wipes work fine for me too.

Has anyone tried Ultrasonic cleaners? The internet has mixed information and I am a bit paranoid about shoving R5k's worth of vision into a R2k machine I would buy specifically for this.

Here is what I do currently:
1. Rinse them thoroughly under warm water without touching the glass to remove any loose dust and other stuff.
2. Spray them with a bit of diluted sunlight (I use an old sunlight bottle for this to get stream and pressure).
3. Rinse them again.
4. Cover lenses in sunlight and gently rub using fingers.
5. Rinse thoroughly again under the tap.
6. Put them on a cotton towel (100% cotton reusable baby nappies are the best possible thing for glasses) and let them drip dry.

If you have to wipe them after the above use a clean 100% cotton towel (reusable nappy even better).
I consider the microfibre cloth that comes with the glasses an absolutely last option emergency item and only use it if nothing else is available. that way it is always clean when I need it and lasts as long as the pair of glasses (with a wash or two).

Some of the things I have read in this tread make me cringe.
Toilet paper, shirt, tissue, deodorant etc are not really a great idea, quick solution maybe but long term damage is inevitable.

Wash them once a week in warm water + sunlight liquid.

For daily cleaning, breathe a mist on the lenses and wipe it with an old cotton t-shirt.

I do mine daily (that way I never have to rub them at random times through the day).

I clean lenses by fogging them with my breath and then using a microfibre cloth if I have one… or my shirt tail if I don't. :o

Depends on how often you replace your specs.

I think 3 years is the longest I've ever gone in 40 odd years and diluted Sunlight in water / tissue is what I use at least once a day. Nary a scratched lens yet - frames take more of beating in fact.

I have used tissue in the past (as have we all) but it can easily cause a bit of dirt to scratch the glass.

Get a pack of reusable nappies, they come in 4's
Keep one in the car, one in the office and 2 at home.
You will thank me later :)

Think I'll stick to my tried & proven method - I may be getting old but I'm not ready for adult diapers yet :D
