I know I having fun :p Thank god you have a thick skin otherwise this would be no fun :p

But seriously it does bring up an interesting topic what is still considered steak ?
I guess The OP is using "steak" as a reference not the be all and end all, because I don't eat the plain steak only fillet, rump, and ribeyes when it comes to beef. In fact, I prefer lamb. I used to eat a lot carpaccio back then when hatfield square was still a party place and not the shady **** it turned into before going away.

Lol reminds me of the kiddies jol at the end of Hatfield square, and druggies hanging out at timesfour. Normally we would just go to dropzone get hammered make our way to either Sunnyside London pie or Brooklyn for some crawdaddy's.

Medium and medium rare.
Though I've been to places where the only safe way was to have it well done.

Well considering some people's cooking skills is like that of a 4 year baking dirt in a easybake oven ''cough'' nemoneiros ''cough''. I would take my chances with the 4 year old.....

That reminds me a juice steak and chips with a runny egg is heaven.
Sure way to fix this

1) start cooking
2) evaluate your results
3) tryagain
4) upskill yourself

I wonder how many people still only/just bliksem their meat with spices while they braai...

Prego steak, is the only steak that should be marinated and a Texan steak either beef or pork.Salt and pepper is all you need.If you bring spices near my braai when doing lamb chops you are looking to be bliksemed, lamb chop especially karoo lamb doesn't require any salt spice or any thing.

Sure, but I'm also thinking about things like dry brining.

edit
This talk is gearing me up to go and raid the meat deli...

Steak, kosher salt and black pepper the ennnnnnnnnnnnnnd.Maybe a bit of olive oil rubbed on the steak and whole garlic in the pan while frying and a bit of butter topped with melted blue cheese....

I like my steaks like I like my women.
Alive.
That means medium-rare to medium, erring on the medium side. I've tried rare and just can't do it.
But I'm also not fussed about it too much - you bring me a well done piece of meat that and I'll enjoy the heck out if it.

Aaaand in saying all that, we actually don't eat too much red meat these days.
