I don't have an issue with the install time as long as things after that are ok... But they not so yeah... My adsl has never gone down before though which is nice...

Just about a month, but I had to seriously pull strings at Telkom to get a port.

It is a bit hard to respond to this. ;)

Let us just say that the business I am in uses, for its small size, a lot of Telkom's services, and that we consequently have access to certain excellent project and other managers who can make things happen.

Though this is not the case for us, if your business uses a lot of data circuits, you will get a Telkom Corporate Account Manager and a Service Management Specialist assigned your account, and these people can also make things happen.

If you want to know more please email me.
:)

Its sad that a mere 23% got their ADSL in the 3 weeks they were promised....

Not b!tching - Just want to figure out how telkom works or doesnt for that matter - would be interesting for people to know.

Where are you located then...also Soweto?

Randburg CBD. The retards at Telkom thought it would be awesome to run fibre everywhere.

When I first signed up we moved into a new house in Table View. Found a Telkom business card stuck to the front door. Called them and they installed the next day.

Yip, believe it

i choose 4-6months...the reason, telkom couldnt find my house

Home DSL 192

Mine took about 50hours. I went to telkom direct, filled in a form on a monday.

Next day techie phones and says he wants to work on the line. 5minutes he phones back and says i can get filters and go for it.

Bought a modem and i'm on-line by wednesday evening.

7 months and still waiting

I applied for ADSL and a normal line on the 12th May 2005. Today is the 31st December 2005 and I am still waiting, seven months later. I have complained so much that the staff at customer care know me by name. I must speak to them twice a week at least. I am promised dates but no one arrives. I have spent countless days off work waiting for Telkom to come on dates they promised, but no one comes. I have begged to be given the number of the highest person I am allowed to complain to but the Telkom staff at 0800 600 126 customer complaints refuse to give me any of the big bosses numbers. I have been informed that I can receive ADSL but they just refuse to come and install it. I have my order number and an "ARS" number (a complaint number). Please can someone help! I am desperate and fighting a losing battle against the BEAST. All I wanted for Christmas was a landline after seven months.

I ordered my dsl yesterday and they said they will phone me after 3 weeks to set a date. When I asked for self-install, the call centre person said they no longer provide it because it had problems but the "self install backlog centre" would phone to see if they could do it.. what the hell...

While I realise that the numbers particpating in this poll are to limited to reveal any meaningful stats I wonder if there is any relationship between a realtively speedy ADSL installation and geographical location eg Gauteng, Westen Cape etc. In other words are Telkom emplyees perhaps more efficient in various areas?
