as IT guy at our co, I've had to organise ADSL connections for some of the directors' homes.
.................. and some more .........
going on 5 months, and still waiting.
some crock about there not being ports available... and "no, we have no idea when we expect to plan to have an estimate of when it might be available"
And this is in Sandton, hoor!
I am strugling with the issue of "no ports available"... sure I do not pretend to know the systems, or what the processes are, but jislaaik... how can that be???
Surely it can't be shortage of equipment (DHL?), nor can it be a shortage of funds (!), nor can it be a lack of applications to make it worthwile (I'm told it is a big area thats affected, 100s of people also waiting in this particular area alone).
So why no ports available.... get a port!
And everytime since month 2 when I phoned almost weekly, was I told, "The issue has been elevated (!) and somebody will contact you within 48hours with more feedback". ha ha ha, I am still waiting for callerbacker no1. If it's really been elevated everytime its also floating in space by now.
I suppose Telkom's making quite a good bundle in profit from the ADSL users they already have, so no need to bend over backwards to get more subscribers.
Well Telkom, if u did actually give a crap about the long outstanding orders... you may take it easy. From my side, there's a little place where the sun dont shine, where you can bury it.... we've given up, installed iBurst, and the service, and speed's been great.
