Don't know if i've commented here before but I ordered 13th of July and i've been told it will be installed the 28th of Julty (self-install). Then again, at my dad's house I ordered 30th of May and have been told installation will take place 23rd of August, but that's just because a DSLAM upgrade needs to take place..

Took me 1 month and 1 day.

They gave me a date that they going to install it and I waited paitently for that day to come. I phoned them that day and they told me that it will only get done in another seven days. I phoned multiple times until someone told me that he will talk to his people. I got it the next day :D But I got many different responses each time I phoned. Someone told me that there is nothing I can do and someone else gave me a managers number that doesn't work.

So if you have troubles with it, tell them you need it yesturday each time you phone until someone tells you ok I will try my best. It's on a self install.

Ordered my ADSL the end of September, so its been almost six months now.

But I am very optimistic because my application has been "escalated"
and the planning department should be calling me any day now. :)

I would think that you and I live in the same Dream world...My order has been escalated so many times that you would need an astronaut to find it...

Ordered my 512K on 3 July 2006. Then they told me only 192K available. So they placed another order on 10 July. Waited till 10 August for installation date; bugged them every 2nd day. Then called to say I had ADSL 10 months ago, so can do self install.

I did not even try connecting, until by chnace I decided to see if Icould synch, and voila I was synching good. Called to get user, passwrd, and on 10 August 2006 got connected. Just over 5 weeks.

Moral: if you have a modem, check regularly for synching, and if so, ask for self install. and get connected.

Man, I have a feeling I was always synching, and that when I noticed it only then did I decide to call for connection!

go figure!

Still waiting

Order went through at the start of March. Apparently everything is and has been ready for a month now, but still can't get an installation date out of them.

1.5 weeks from the date of order, in Meyersdal, Alberton. I'm guessing the area has a higher wireless penetration :D

Ordered mine on the 27th of Feb. Phoned them regulary. Bitched, moaned, laid complaints, etc. Eventually synced on the 6th of August (yea, Sunday). That was with a self install, so it comes to a total of 5 months and a week.
And then this morning, Telkom phones me to ask for feedback about the call I made to their customer care center last week. I told them I didn't phone last week, but would like to complain about the call I made two weeks ago. "No, sorry sir, if you aren't the person who phoned last week, we can't do the survey. Goodbye." *click*. Weird.

Ouch! I ordered my line around end May/early June. Not sure ... I went in expecting 4 weeks and was rather surprised when I got the install date, even the guys at the ADSL helpdesk didn't believe it...

I'm off Blue Crane...

as IT guy at our co, I've had to organise ADSL connections for some of the directors' homes.
.................. and some more .........
going on 5 months, and still waiting.
some crock about there not being ports available... and "no, we have no idea when we expect to plan to have an estimate of when it might be available"
And this is in Sandton, hoor!

I am strugling with the issue of "no ports available"... sure I do not pretend to know the systems, or what the processes are, but jislaaik... how can that be???
Surely it can't be shortage of equipment (DHL?), nor can it be a shortage of funds (!), nor can it be a lack of applications to make it worthwile (I'm told it is a big area thats affected, 100s of people also waiting in this particular area alone).
So why no ports available.... get a port!
And everytime since month 2 when I phoned almost weekly, was I told, "The issue has been elevated (!) and somebody will contact you within 48hours with more feedback". ha ha ha, I am still waiting for callerbacker no1. If it's really been elevated everytime its also floating in space by now.
I suppose Telkom's making quite a good bundle in profit from the ADSL users they already have, so no need to bend over backwards to get more subscribers.

Well Telkom, if u did actually give a crap about the long outstanding orders... you may take it easy. From my side, there's a little place where the sun dont shine, where you can bury it.... we've given up, installed iBurst, and the service, and speed's been great.

It's been 2 months today since I ordered. About 6 weeks ago they said my area isn't DSL enabled and it will be ready, installed and all at the end of August.

Here's hoping...

Im moving an ordered adsl today and I must say wow telkom customer service have improved since the last time I ordered adsl.

Today I just phoned 10219 spoke to a lady there she helped me with everything no nonsense stuff like "sorry call this number or that number or call this number again in 2mins"

And then an hour later I got a call from the customer support manager doing a survey asking me how I would rate the person who helped me and gave the lady a 5/5 for excellent service. The manager also asked me how would I rate how my call was handled today compared to other times I have phoned and I told her excellent compared to the excuse for a service I had in the past.

Now Im just hoping my adsl gets installed in the 23 days I was told.
