Hi guys, so Octotel's guys are finally coming to my complex to do an installation at flat. My Next question would then be how long do you wait after the installation is done for the router from your ISP?

Any honest answers would be appreciative.

Like a piece of string...

My router was here the day after the fibre was installed. Octotel/Vox.

I'd avoid the "free" routers like the plague. If you're investing in fibre, invest in a proper router or wifi mesh system.

Wow that was quick. I'm sure you were thrilled?
 by the time they delivered the 'free' router I was up and running already with my own router, having received the PPPoE login earlier.

'Free' router is safely packed away.

So my installation was completed yesterday and to my surprise the router came about the same time the installation was being carried out. Everything went smoothly and when they were done i found out that the complex isn't live. Apparently a different team from Octotel needs to come do the splicing (whatever that means) and that will only happen during the course of today and Friday. But the thing that pisses me off the most is the fact that i was sent an email last week already that said my complex would be live by this past week Friday..... All of this is so confusing. I wish i could have gone with a different FNO other than Octotel because these guys don't have a clue on how to communicate to their customers properly.

Splicing is joining to fibres together by melting them, it's quite cool actually. Generally splicing and testing takes a couple of days for a complex, sooner if the complex ain't big.

Splicing is joining two fibres together by melting them, it's quite cool actually. Generally splicing and testing takes a couple of days for a complex, sooner if the complex ain't big.

Hi, I have the "free" router installed but I can't load ExpressVPN onto it and I want to. What make and spec router would you suggest for my 100Mb/s fibre feed? Thanks.
