How long does upgrading take?

Hansa, IS news serv with 8connections ;) no clue what torrent speeds are. I find browsing is a bit sluggish but then that the usual IS way... Telkom speed test and all the others getting 450kb/s, quite stoked as i did those line test everyone said i should do and with my SNR for my 384 line, it calculated my line would maxout at 1.5mbit...
 
and then you do an international speedtest:
9/7/2006 6:57 AM GMT 64 kb/s(down) 184 kb/s (up)652 ms London

lol....the international is quite slow....am i reading it right the download is slower than upload???
 
im not getting more than 100kbs while downloading, even with more than 100hosts....and my router is synced at 4096. wat should i do? phone telkom?

EDIT: i know its not mu isp openweb cos their accounts run @full speed of line. and ppl using openweb are gettng speeds of 400kbps

its also think its not my SNR (+-25) or my line attuation (19)

I heard this plenty times over the last few days. Where has it brought me? To a downgraded speed of 384.

Yesterday the guy at the 0800 456 786 told me : "You are not the only customer"

I asked him if they start working on a line if they then just decide to do something else or how does it work. No answer, quiet.

To pass time i'm busy clean installing XP on my desktop :eek:
 
HanSa, my SNR is 11~12 , synced at 4096 and getting 400kb/s. Are u using the news server? I cant get above 100 for anything else though :/
 
o ok...i can try the new server....but also on the speed tests telkom i got 2mb line, sentech i got like a 1024 line...
 
i sent the guy at telkom i spoke to an email...hopefully he wil respond wit some good news....


EDIT: ok i think the prob was not really a problem...it was just IS limiting the account during the day i think....cos now after 6 im getting 400kbps wit the prison break!!!!!!!!12mins remaining:)

Yea IS seems to throttle users during the day quite hectically!
 
now on the last day of the month i can download:
24*60*60*400kbps, /1000=34560MB!!!!!!!!

(i hope my maths is correct :p )
 
Watch the news server bum out on the last day. I have 3 friends giving me their accounts on the last day ;) sure ill be going over 120gigs easily this month :)
 
lol...i have the 30gb local to use, and my father has a 1gb mweb account @work bcos he wants to keep the email address....:mad: i should be able to use that and download quite a bit if i get capped...
 
hmm, now been a week and still no upgrade to 1024. Last call to telkom yielded "We don't know when it will be done" :/
 
I wouldnt be sad about not being upgraded to 1024. Its ****!
 
At last i got my 1024/4096 line....Thing is, i have to use the SAIX proxy ( cache ) to have decent opening of webpages....If i connect without the proxy, the pages just lags a lot
 
Could anyone give me a number to phone to get this thing done... 8 days and nothing. Been phoning 0800375375 but it's only on monday-friday :(
 
thats the right number.... they only take upgrades mon-fri :(....
