I'm with Archer on this one.
Say for instance you have a budget of R8k (excl OS) for gaming PC, then you won't even consider buying a SSD, because your focus would be a high as possible framerate, and NOT on faster loading times.
Now if you use the very same budget for an office PC, you'll twist it so that you can get the best productivity out of it, so you'll basically just take the gaming PC and ditch the high end graphics card for an entry level dual display graphics card and a SSD.
I don't know why you'd want faster loading times in most multiplayer games, because in the end you'll have to wait for the slowest player to finish loading in any case - or like in BF:BC2 where you have to wait for the starting counter to finish before you may spawn.
Before you buy a SSD, make sure that you have a decent amount of RAM first, with 4GB being the minimum for any gaming PC. Without enough RAM, you'll be shortening your SSD's lifetime and also the time that it'll take to process/load anything on your PC.
I've seen what happens in BF:BC2 to a friend of mine who only had 2GB of RAM... his game would freeze every minute for a few seconds. I told him to go for 4GB of RAM in total, and it fixed the freeze issue completely! Btw: he doesn't have a SSD.
The games should be written so that they load all the needed data into RAM, which is exactly what all the proper games and benchmarking applications do!
In the case of a laptop that has only a space for 1x 2.5" drive, I would recommend 8GB of RAM at least, so that you can have a RAM drive for temporary files.
If you guys are so insistent that SSD's would make the gaming experience better, then I'd want to see how you guys would stack up with a 120GB SSD vs. a PC with 24GB of RAM (which would cost less than the SSD) where all the game files was loaded into a RAM drive.
