I use Vodacom's web service a lot to send free SMSes.

According to most sources the average size of an SMS is around 140 bytes. This means that the 4.5 Billion SMSs sent over the last year on the Vodacom Network equates to around 587 GB of data.

Damn, that's easy money! (only 587GB per year - MrG does that in one day.)

SMS is the biggest moneymaking racket they have. Thats why all my local ones I send via vodacom4me all my international go via skype.

Doesn't help if the recipients aren't Vodacom subscribers or you're not at your computer though. International sms prices are crazy though.
