hi,

As title states, just curious what other peeps are paying for their levies.
Seen 2.2k this week :o albeit it did include the electricity usage for the month.

What's yours?

Edit : Forgot to add, what is included? Water? Power? Massages?

Good deal if that includes un-monitored electricity. When can I move in :P

R3k.

Unmonitored water, subsidised electricity (I'm liable for an additional amount <R100 per month, for electricity) .

Actual levy: R1680. With all other stuff R2.5k +- R100 each month.

This includes water and electricity. I use less than 6 units of water so that's free.

There are so many extras on my account that doesn't fall under the actual levy that I'm considering getting someone to inspect the body corporate.

R350 for sewerage, previously this fell under the levy but they're billing this separately now. Funny thing is the original levy didn't change...

This is the first and last time I'll buy a townhouse in a secured complex. For that money I can convert a free standing house in to Fort Knox!

I'm not sure if you're allowed to ask but if you're thinking of buying a new place get a print or email of the current occupants levy account. The agent will almost always have his levy wrong.

So many variables at play, what do you get for your levies, how many units are there, how big is the property, how much common area is there, is it sectional title, is there a club-house/pool etc,

This is what prompted me to ask. Got a statement and was confused as furk.
Mind me asking which estate you are in?

The levy amount is also dependable on the amount of maintenance, gardening and security the complex has.
Eg a plastered and painted complex would need more than a face brick etc.

R1500 with lights and water, looking at normal free hold housing though you won't escape it really. R550 for the privilege of using electricity, R300 or so sewerage and then building insurance.

R30k/m. Does not include electricity or gas. Does include water, 100mbit/s internet and basic cable HD DVR.

Levi is the single reason I will never ever buy property in an estate / complex. It reduces your investment potential.

My GF pays R8000 for her bond and R2200 for levi (excl electricity and water). Paying more than 25% of your bond cost on levi is insane, and guess what? It only goes up every year.

and then sometimes they want special levies

I have a small flat for me and the SO (our first place to start off with) and the levy is R535. This only includes the complex maintenance.

Water/Elec and piped gas I pay myself (prepaid).

 You get internets!? Damn you...we have fibre, but still need to pay for it separately :(

I pay R3000, for my internet, water, electricity, parking levy and general levy

That's the cheapest in the building, a friend of mine in the building is paying R15 000pm- yes that's the levy.

I can get up to 2Gb/s, but that's extra (and I haven't found the need for this - not sure what people do that requires all this bandwidth :p ). At my one rental unit though, my tenants get 2Gb/s and it's part of the levis for the building - much newer building though.
