You make this way too emotional. You don't have to justify your living costs. No one is out to get you.

It could be R10 000, it could be R15 000. Every person is different and all questions is always subjective.

No matter how little or how big, everyone has an income they consider good enough for their needs

The problem is the OP's question is too vague. Are they saying per month or yearly?

Per month; I'd say you need at least 30k a month as a single person to be comfortable. 60k as a family.

Having to still pay rent, the biggest expense, I could live on R15-R20 000. But it won't be enough to cover all the other necessities due to lack of government services we already covered for. So R30 000 is generous for a single person.

none of the options provided meets the definition of money

Probably. But they'd be comfortable.

R20 million would do me fine actually. R3m on a house, R1m on two cars, and then live off the remainder for a decade while converting my 20k MYBB post history into a standup routine to achieve minor celebrity.

I was at the doctor couple of days ago. I need an operation. Total cost R84K excluding hospital stay and aftercare. Essentially he gave me a death sentence I can live with the condition but my quality of life will go down the drain.

My advice is live a fast and happy life. Make sure by the time the repo man comes that it doesn't matter anymore. What is the point in saving for retirement if we can't afford doctors, hospitals and medical care?

I am taking a lot more risks now than ever before. What do I have to lose? Thanks to private hospitals nothing. They already own the health care and made sure I can't get health care so what is the point in worrying about debt, investments and everything else?

Another thing I saw with this particular specialist is how nasty his staff becomes when I told them I don't have a medical aid. Our medical care in this country is the worst.

This is not great advice. Maybe get that R20 million and buy some health insurance.

I agree it is stupid but it does point to the fact that very few people can afford healthcare.

Ask yourself this question, This is important. How much money does the Lotto make? Where are the hospitals, where are the schools?

See sure we can get R20 million and it will solve most problems if not all of them. But the government will never allow you to keep that sum of money. I can imagine your tax per year will be over 50%

But here is a big irony. That is about one million sixty-nine thousand eight hundred ninety-four dollars US.

Our money is toilet paper.

Your posts should come with an emotional health risk warning..

More than R50 bar. That will get you somewhere but it's not enough.
Having no debt and a net worth of more than R50 bar, you could leave a legacy.

That comprises share portfolios, RA's, savings, etc that you don't touch while still earning a living however it may be but not touching that money. That money should grow and dividends etc. can be used to support you however it may be.

But ja 50 mil+ for me, please.
