To be honest between 10-20 million, although to match what I have R5 million could do too.

1. My house is almost paid
2. My cars are paid cash
3. I would need to supplement my current income

R5 million getting an interest of 10-11% paid out monthly would be a bit short, but I can live with that.

However R10 million would have me upgrade my house by another 2 million, and then put 8 million in a fixed deposit, which pays me out about R72 000 pm in interest payments at the current interest rate. It will be more than enough, and the spare I can put in a pension which eventually will surpass this amount at retirement.
Ignoring tax, the R8m never grows i.e. you will be earning R72k pm in 10, 20, 30 years time which won't be enough then.

No option for the only real answer? It is NEVER enough. No matter the amount.
this ^^^

for many no amount would ever be enough, even when you become the richest man in the world you might wake up one day and decide to outright buy one of the biggest social media companies for shits and giggles, on top of going to space and all manner of other money spends

I've seen first hand how even a bit of money changes people (in this case a fairly friendly lady I know turned into a beyotch in about 2 or 3 months right before my eyes)

the only way anything less than "infinite money" will be enough is if an individual defines what their best life would look like and decides to stay content once they achieve it

I've seen some piss poor people who live damn happy lives compared to most of us

I was at the doctor couple of days ago. I need an operation. Total cost R84K excluding hospital stay and aftercare. Essentially he gave me a death sentence I can live with the condition but my quality of life will go down the drain.

My advice is live a fast and happy life. Make sure by the time the repo man comes that it doesn't matter anymore. What is the point in saving for retirement if we can't afford doctors, hospitals and medical care?

I am taking a lot more risks now than ever before. What do I have to lose? Thanks to private hospitals nothing. They already own the health care and made sure I can't get health care so what is the point in worrying about debt, investments and everything else?

Another thing I saw with this particular specialist is how nasty his staff becomes when I told them I don't have a medical aid. Our medical care in this country is the worst.
L.F.D.Y?

One of my fav songs.

i walked into louis Vuitton the other day

they sell jackets for R120k

You driving that 320d barefoot?

I'll need more than 50mil to make all my dreams come true, but at this stage of my finances, I will be extremely grateful for anything extra.

I am afraid, sometimes, that I am living too fast.

Why is this question so vague? Has it been clarified anywhere what exactly they mean?
Nope, but going by the answers it looks like everyone is saying with how much they would be able to live with, for the rest of their lives.

And yes money soon loses its worth the more you have and you might find yourself that you are not happy anymore and need more. The circle goes round and round. And no money does not buy you happiness. It buys you happy endings sure. But not happiness.

One can have as much money as possible to never ever have to worry about it. Then you start being sad for all kinds of different kak.

In that case R10mil would probably be a good "enough" amount assuming that the this amount is excluding the tax. I could pay off my house, buy some investment properties and rent them out and invest the rest. Then I'll play landlord and do what I like the want of the time.

Playing landlord is toss and not enough to keep you busy the whole time. Need to find something that will give you more rewards than even the fixed-interest accounts of late.

It must make money while you sleep and not require you to work yourself to death. Idle hands...

True enough. I could definitely find something to do, maybe start a small boutique business.
