Hi,

I'm on a 4 MBit/s 4 GB account. Now my question is how much does WoW need? Anyone know that?

Not really sure, but it's not much at all (can't be more than 10MB's p/h -- think alot less, and depends what you're doing) ...it's not WoW that chow's all the bandwidth, it's teamspeak/vent that does.

i go through 3gigs in approximately the first 15-20 days of the month. Thats with raiding,arenas,vent,battlegrounds... pretty much everything.

(playing everyday ofc)

So that is around 153,6 Megs a day. Lets say you play 6h a day that would be 25,6 Megs in 6h. That would be 4,26 MB/h. Please correct me if I'm wrong it's late^^

That sounds round about right yeah ...ofc, if you're not using voice then it'll be considerably less.

Yeah that would be the case since I have to level 4 chars from 70 to 80 xD

Don't know how your maths works....

If it's 153 megs a day and 6 hours play then it's 153/6 = 25 megs an hour.

I know that I use more than this. I used to do about 120mb per progression raid. And I am *certain* I do more than 4.2mb per hour. Depends on what and how you play though. I don't play as often as I used to but my usage averages out at about 1-1.2gb per month max.

ya last time i ran netlimiter(bandwidth counter thing) i was doing about 25-30mb/hr in 25mans with vent. about 14mb/hr doing bg's.

Allright I can now say it is around 14,6 MB/h that is without TS/Vent. So with my 4 MBit line I can go around 9h a day.

It's also dependant on how many chatty addons you're running and how many guild members with chatty addons you're running.

Most of the chatty addons communicate via channels in the chat system, so if you have a lot of these addons, your data usage will go up appropriately. Look at a fubar plugin called Addonspam to get an idea of who is sending you what and how much :p

FWIW, with two people playing wow several hours every evening, a 1gb unshaped lasts us almost a month.

Ok I do have a lot of addons (Xperl, ChatMod, Boss Mods, Atlas and a few other ones) becasue I will be raiding Naxx for a few times when I hit 80 after that it is straight in to Uludar. It's nice to be in one of the best guilds on the server^^ I did want to look at Carbonite but I'm sticking to QHelper.

Hey bud, well it all comes down to self control, and obviously if you are employed or not, you will find that alot of wow guys do it as a full time profession, not sure about salary structure etc.

In my case, I do the Monday to Friday grind, then POMP wow on weekends, uses about a gig.

"In our next expansion, 'World of Warcraft: Cataclysm', players will be able to learn the much requested 'woodcrafting' profession. Not only will players be able to craft interesting objects such as shield, totems and boats - low level woodcrafters will be able to craft boards that players can carry around. These will be similar to the banners typically found in certain battlegrounds. Players will be able to write words and short phrases on these boards to convey messages. For example: you can advertise your profession or proclaim that you hate beggers. We think a popular new activity of more dedicated players will be to go on marches to demand changes in World of Warcraft. This will provide an alternative to players that spend more time complaining on the forums than actually playing the game. People who play World of Warcraft for life will be able to demand better salary structures and the like," Blizzard anouncer.
