Netflix isn't perfect as far as content goes. DSTV has HBO content and live sport, 2 big drawcards.

Spot on! They have destroyed themselves. They destroyed their own technological lead they had on the rest of the world, their decoder quality fell and fell until they were not even also-rans anymore, and chased away a very large number technology loyal customers.
They did that all by themselves, no need to blame anyone.

Just as the article mentioned if you don’t listen to what your consumer’s request like a separate sport package they will look at other alternatives how is it that you can offer sport packages across the African continent but your home base you unable to provide this service?
Rugby and Cricket is not only enjoyed by the white minority but blacks love the sports too! So why charge and arm and leg for these 2 sporting codes?
 
Dstv remains in business because of its sports offer. When there will be a Netflix sports, it will end it... personnally i would love to be able to pay perview for high quality live streaming sports through app ( esp champions league, eurofoot, world cup football and rugby, six nations, nfl, etc...)

Both,The fact that Netflix shows r all in english is a clear lead for dstv no.2 what does a township gogo know abt wifi? Win for dstv no.3 network coverage is a must for netflix but dstv is available in deep deep rural areas. The fact dat the top 5 most watched tv shows are all sabc show shud tell u something.Netflix also caters for the elite,put some xhosa and zulu show in it and see the numbers go up
 
Would be nice to know how many people have both DSTV and Netflix.
 
Until there's widespread access to FTTH, DStv will have time to reform and keep their feast. There's a loud minority on here who forget that they're exactly that, a minority. DStv is king until further notice.

This. The people who moan on here about how little value Dstv offers are exactly the people privileged enough to be able to afford getting rid of it. 99% of the population can't and have no other choice. Fibre has in any case gone up so much in recent months it would now be more expensive for me than Dstv.

The fibre company where you stay must suck, ours has been getting less, Now on a 100mbps line, for less cost than the 40mbps was 2 years ago.

I find that unlikely but so what if it costs a little more. You can do so much more with a fibre connection than DSTV, including watching DSTV, that it's hardly a fair comparison.
