how to cancel mweb uncapped

note the reasonable download speed. as this is a test all the way to london... but 1200 ms?... that's my problem... used to get like 250, and tbh even that bugs me out sometimes.. =/

Ermm...

That's just awful... MWEB operations pretending that this isn't a hugescale problem for everyone with 4mb lines?...

That really is awful, and it isn't gonna shut anybody up about the terrible speeds we're facing... =/

ROFL! This thread shows that many users are pulling down several hundred GB per month; some are downloading close to half a terabyte a month on MWeb 4mbps lines. See post #334 specifically. Now, I'm not saying that because SOME people can download this amount that MWeb is working perfectly for every single user everywhere. I'm just pointing out that many people are able to download hundred of GB per month.

Uh, other than Telkom (who don't offer uncapped), can you specify exactly which ISPs you consider to be larger, more experienced and more stable?

You only get one guess. Use it wisely. You KNOW you know the answer.

yeah yeah wolfy.. i could download 500 gb in a bad month on mweb. they're good, but when things go wrong they become completely impractical for gaming and so become useless to me, coz that's why im paying for the speed here.. =/

that's not right of me to say though.. it's probably not mweb's fault... it's probably somewhere in telkom or seacom that the fault lies... maybe even in neotel who play some part in seacom's workings (or so i hear).. still unpleasant though

@darxx: If your are using the uncapped, shaped, Connect account from MWeb, you would surely be aware that it is not optimized for gaming. I'm not making excuses for MWeb, I'm just pointing out that they have launched a specific (much more expensive) product for gaming.

And also bradz, i am curious, are you on capped or uncapped 4mb?

Uncapped 4mb, I should have added to my previous post that p2p sited are shaped to around 100KB/s during office hours but this is what we should expect and besides after hours p2p speeds do increase. Browsing, stream and HTTP are always full speed. In all I think MWEB uncapped is great value for money and is certainly the best shaped uncapped option out their.

no i know about the p2p shaping and the fact that this isnt quite optimal for gaming... but when it works right, i get like 250ms latency which is completely fine... but now i get absolute minimum 800... which is useless. i'm not whining about the package, i'm whining about it's unreliability...

and that other gaming oriented package is just so ridiculously priced, i'm curious if anyone actually uses the thing...

This is a very confused reply. You accept that the package is not optimal for gaming. You acknowledge that only sometimes do you get good latency, which is good for gaming, but then complain about it being unreliable for gaming. I agree that the "Internet Addict" package is over-priced -- it should be priced between the Shaped and Business pacakges, not at the same price as the Business pacakge.

So after reading this whole thread, which ISP has the best un-capped offering for the best price? I play WoW, some X-BOX 360, the odd series download, 3 x PC's in the house, 1 x XBOX-360, 1 x Wii, 2 x iPhone's. Currently 3Gb and the odd top up is not cutting it anymore :(

what do you mean wolfy?... the mweb package is not what i'm complaining about, i'm saying the thing doesnt work as it should at times, and when it happens it happens for annoyingly long periods of time... How is that confused?... you're saying i'm confused coz hundreds of other people are having the same problem?... or because you still think im complaining about the shaping which i'm not...

I have a few friends on the axxess express+ thingy, which is completely unshaped, but at quite a cost... i'd say this is absolutely your best chance at working mmo's and online console gaming in this country... but... expensive =/

^^^ thanks, maybe I will go with the std AXXCESS uncapped and have a 2nd account for MMO's and XBOX!

Send a PM to "MWeb" or "MWeb Operations" and ask them to have a look at the problems you are experiencing.
