How to detect unknown Motherboard?

Hi, I am considering on buying an old motherboard but the seller does not know the make. So he can not update the BIOS to detect the CPU.

Does anyone know how to solve this?

1) The motherboard and CPU are two different things. Are you planning to buy them together?
2) Download CPU-Z. It will give you all the relevant information you need to identify the specifications of the board.
3) Tell him to physically look at the board. It will have some indication of what board it is.

try everest as well. more comprehensive

If it has an Intel or Gigabyte chip then buy it?
or else leave it?

Thanx for the feedback guys I am going to use CPU-Z or Everest to try and detect the mobo.

Its an old amd mobo. My one has rusted capacitors(dust), and i am having trouble installing windows due to memory errors(0x00001). It could just be the ram :/
