Hi

Can a MacBook Guru help me install MacOs on a MacBook.
I have no idea wat model Macbook it is.
There is nothing install on it.

i downloaded macos torrent but its a dmg image

You have to burn the image on a DVD. You can just change the file type from .dmg to .iso and you should be able to burn it using your normal DVD burring software on your pc. Once you did that you start your MacBook and hold down the C key.

Then you just follow the installation instructions

you have to burn the .dmg image using a mac on a dual layered disk at a slow speed you can PM me i can help you my rates are very reasonable ......

You don't need a mac to burn a .dmg file. Since there is nothing installed on the macbook I just assumed he doesn't have another 1 but perhaps a windows pc.

OP, no worries, my advice is absolutely free ;-)

hi yes i have a windows cd

i changes the dmg image extension to iso and i burned it to a dvd but its not booting up from the dvd
The dvd spins fast but then i get a Flashing folder on white screen

That was your first mistake, looking for help on these forums amongst the apple hat3rs is your 2nd. The kind of help you looking for you will not find here for free as it's quite complicated from what you have (Windows) to reload your MacBook. For eg. google TARGET DISK MODE

Not quite - your own suggestion to buy a retail DVD and install it is the best one. Myself, I have no time for piracy or theft. Now, while it looks like the item was not in fact stolen, the install media is pirated. If the OP lived anywhere close to me and it was the same model MBP as mine, I would allow a copy of my install disks provided the item is not stolen. Downloading and messing with torrented DMGs is beyond my level of expertise.

OP: If you get a retail DVD or can determine what model your MBP is, you may move forward.

Well Local help is leka but we as South African always need to go to international forum for help and they are helpfull and they dont b*tch around about what is pirate or not or if its stolen.

Well for those that one day come accross this section Transmac will burn your downloaded MacOs dmg image work for me.
Just google "transmac torrent" or Pm

Thanks for those that tried to Help "Big Ups"

Easy solution :

Ask a friend who has a Mac to burn the .dmg for you.. pop it in your Mac and install.

Just remember that if you have a non-intel Mac, Snow Leopard wont work :)

Without assuming any guilt on your part or reference to piratebay.

Shut the mac down and power it up. When you hear the startup chime hit the option key (alt key) and keep it pressed until you either see the possibility of either windows 7 or if available the Mac OS partition. Mac OS may still be installed and the machine may just be set to boot into windows. This is just an assumption as installing Windows and removing the mac os is pretty pointless. You may still need a OS X installer disc in case there a working OS X partition and a admin password is set. You can reset the admin password from installer disk. You can also transfer the Mac OS startup image to a USB stick, but this would require another mac. However some of the newer macs require the original installer disk as the hardware may not be supported on the retail disk. Take it to an apple store nearby to see what your options are.

sputnik why you helping out a windows user who's going to end up calling you a mac fanboy?

The guy asked a question and was answered with an attitude implying that he is in possession stolen goods. My reply took about 2 mins to write and is free like this forum. You flamed first.

seems strange the reaction especially given the guy seems to have bought it legitimately.

sputnik is that likely a parallels thing?

and to tothers, if i sold my mbp; it is possible it could load into linux if i did not inform the buyer. with the option to boot into SL available.

My thoughts were that it's defaulting to bootcamp. Why the guy was found guilty until proven innocent I don't know.

+1

Since when doesn't the forum help legitimate questions?

@Op - did you manage to find out which model it is?
