How to use 8ta on Vodacom E220 Modem?

Hi,

I see 8ta has got really good data deals (for prepaid) so Im thinking of getting that as my backup internet (when my adsl cap runs out).

I have a Vodacom E220 HSDPA Modem, How do I set it up to use any network?

Uninstall the Vodacom software and load the Mobile Partner software or see here: http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/399609-E220-modem-speed?p=7637859&viewfull=1#post7637859

The former is a very easy process but the latter is the better option.

Also looking at hopping over to 8ta as soon at my Vodacom contract expires. Have been using Mobile Partner on my modems for years already.

Same here. All you need to do is folow the instructions on the SIM card package (change a setting or two) and away you go! No fuss at all.

They use a different APN than "internet"?

I'll get a prepaid 8ta sim first just to test signal strength / speed.

I got the 20GB Vodacom bundle in December (used over December/January), so going back to 2GB a month is a ball-crusher .

To make life easier and avoid any possible conflicts it is advisable to delete the current profile and to create a new one.
