UPS is a matter of 2 cables.

Don't assume! In our house, the HP, DSL router and CCTV DVR are at the top of the laundry cupboard. My chosen UPS is an inverter which has 2x 105ah batteries in and weighs A LOT! It took me half a Saturday to run twin and earth from the bedroom that has the inverter in a cupboard, through the ceiling and into the laundry cupboard.

I definitely remember setting aside a full Saturday to do it all properly.

Fair comment, but a setup like that is an exception.

quick question, who do I call to actually get a quote to fix my server? it looks like the motherboard is fried, so potentially that is all I would need to replace but at this stage it could be more components.

Oh, I'm based in Cape Town btw

The price of a new motherboard will be super expensive.
You are better of looking for a new/used machine on carbonite etc.

Im online with HP support chat... and they cant assist me directly??

[Thursday, May 21, 2015 12:13 PM] -- Avinash B says:
Richard, we would not be able to get a quote on how much it would be on this. So I can suggest that you can get in touch with a local HP reseller and they can give you that information.

[Thursday, May 21, 2015 12:13 PM] -- Avinash B says:
If you can give me the name of the city the server is in, I can try getting some reseller names.

[Thursday, May 21, 2015 12:14 PM] -- Richard Theunissen says:
OK, so HP cannot give me a price for a replacement motherboard??

[Thursday, May 21, 2015 12:18 PM] -- Avinash B says:
Richard for an out of warranty server, if we send the case to the billing team so that they can give you an estimate. It will be for the part and the onsite service as well.

[Thursday, May 21, 2015 12:18 PM] -- Avinash B says:
In case you only need a part then it will be through a HP service provider or reseller.

makes sense I suppose??

Ever since updating to Kodi, media playback pauses for about 5-8 seconds.

Went back to XBMC and now it's present there as well.

Upgrading your GPU isn't going to help unless it's a faulty card, then replacing it with any GPU that works will fix it.

Have you tried diagnosing the problem?

-I've tried different versions of Kodi - even the Beta's
-Updated graphics drivers
-Defragged the HDD's

What else can I check?

My guess is there is a app or service under Windows that is using resources. Check the Task Manager.
