I got feedback from HP, with a quote to repair my server.
I'm actually at a loss for words. You weren't joking when you said that it's going to be pricey.....
Oh yes, I could have told you that. I also enquired a year or two ago about a replacement PSU. At the time was cheaper to buy 2 brand new servers instead of one replacement PSU.
Exactly what happens to my 2TB Seagate recently. I only managed to recover less than half the drive before it died.
1.8TB's to go over the next 18-24hrs... Hold thumbs for me.

A bit of googling will help. I've got 16GB of Kingston ECC memory in my N36L running freenas. Awesome performance.Anyone here by any chance using this memory on a N54L: http://www.firstshop.co.za/kingston-memory-8-gb-KTH-PL316E_8G-p-4422
Want to upgrade the memory on our office FreeNAS box with ECC modules. The only place reported that seems to confirm that it does work is a review on amazon.de: http://www.amazon.de/Kingston-KTH-PL316E-8G-Arbeitspeicher-PC3-12800/dp/B008LMNHB8
Would feel much better knowing if somebody actually has this module working on theirs.
TIA

Has anyone tried "repurposing" an HP Proliant Microserver case?
If you were to read a few posts back, you would note that my HP Proliant Microserver has died after a lightning event. I have no idea if it's the power supply or motherboard or both.
Has anyone thought of using the case and installing a non-HP mini-itx motherboard, processor, etc.? I'm wondering if it would fit, and wether it would be possible to connect the hard drive cold-plug rack to another motherboard?
The case really is quite nice, and if it is possible to reuse it for a new server, I'd love to.
Let me know your thoughts.

good man, you just read my mind. I came here to ask the exact same question. I was wondering if I would be able to buy some cheap motherboard and get my fried microserver up and running again.
It would appear that the motherboard board is an HP design though. Darn
Oh well... insurance have paid out and the new one is on its way already. Not quite sure what to do with the old one though![]()
