HP ProLiant MicroServer

Oh and a quick question. When trying to order the Microserver from HP's website i am not able to go through the Checkout Process. I get told to select a delivery method but there are no delivery methods showing up :-/. Anyone have any ideas? Using Google Chrome.

I placed an order yesterday, with google chrome.
Delivery option was automatically ticket.

I did email them about collecting it myself (but decided they should rather deliver it), maybe they busy putting a self collect option?

That sucks, i had nothing at all showing under delivery :(.

Ja, had the same thing, had to phone them. Forgot about trying it via Firefox, sometimes the most obvious things....

The instructions have some errors, namely:

1. ./configure --enabled-vaapi changes to ./configure --enable-vaapi
2. The above will fail unless you have libva1-x11 installed

Other than that xbmc compiled and vainfo looked good, but I still got segmentation faults (xbmc crashes) when trying to play a video. When I disable VAAPI support in xbmc settings then the video plays, but it's jerky. Enable VAAPI and boom! xmbc crashes. The GPU in question is a radeon HD4350.

So basically, for me at least, the quest continues.

I had this problem too (using Ubuntu 11.04 + XBMC with 5450). I solved it by adding the following to /etc/X11/xorg.conf:

Code:
Section "Extensions"
        Option "Composite" "Disable"
EndSection

After this 1080p movies playback flawlessly (no dropped frames, +-15% CPU usage)

Okay colleague of mine got his working. 1080p running perfectly on a 5450 in Linux/XBMC as I'm typing this.

Excellent news!! Hope at last!

Ah, thanx.

So which Remote is Best?
Anyone using an Xbox 360 Remote? (as I plan on maybe buying an xbox 360 as well)

I'd actually like a good Remote that doesn't use IR Tech, to avoid Line of Sight issues

I'm using an XBox 360 controller as a remote.
I installed Ubuntu, I had to install the Xboxdrv drivers as the built in drivers didn't seem to work for me.
I then wrote a startup script which makes my xbox remote a mouse when the system boots up.
I bought a generic xbox 360 receiver which works a 100% with my wireless controller.

PoV it is. Thanx Postman

What Remote works best for XBMC?

can I use my iPhone as a Remote for XBMC? (additional to a normal MC Remote)

I know the Android remote app works really nicely, I'm sure the iPhone one is just as good.
There is also a web console for the XBMC which you can use a remote by just using your smartphone's browser.

Yep. Keeper take heed.

I dont understand what that has to do with passive cards.... those are the fanless ones right?
I thought one with a fan would be better?

I keep getting mixed answers about the gfx card - please tell me which GT520 card I should get that works?
(this is my current choice)

Most ATI 5450's and 6450's are all passive and use a lot less power. Meaning they make less heat and are quieter. Plus i have found it easier to get a half height ATI card with the right brackets.
