Upload Speed: 28 kbps (3.5 KB/sec transfer rate)

The above is reported by the vodacom speed test. Total crap IMO, i get a max rate of 2KB/sec downloading from the IS ftp server. I totally give up. I can kick my own butt for not going the MTN route. Is there any way to get out of a 2 yr contract and give this crappy card back?

Us early adopters of 3G went through all this and I can promise you that it will work out fine. Go bash yuor head against a tree, and eventually everything will work fine.

Be patient. the other option was vor Vodacom to wait untill the technology is 100% stable, and then implement it. But then, everyone would have complained about the slow progress of Vodacom!! You can't have it both!!

My current problem is my new HSDPA card disconect all the time. The 3G card did the same right at the end. hopefully it will get sorted...

Thanks, we're busy testing a new firmware release for the U740. Hopefully it'll also address the disconnects.

do you have a changelog you could post in the mean-time?

I would like to see it also please :)

Will see what I can find, you know what it's like with manufacturers, they only admit to a fault when they've fixed it. Up to that point you're the ONLY person in the universe with that specific problem.....

Any idea when it will become available?

Problems again in Milnerton today, after yesterday's bliss today we are back with the same issue as during the week...

Last Result:
Download Speed: 60 kbps (7.5 KB/sec transfer rate)
Upload Speed: 173 kbps (21.6 KB/sec transfer rate)

Will keep trying - AGAIN...

Getting frustrating now - surely there must be a problem - even though there isn't one according to Vodacom/Siemens?

Sorry, I posted mine in the Show of hands thread.

So I'll just post it here again. But for today though.

Randburg, Blairgowrie
Down 51kbps
up 22kbps

VG3, I'm gonna move in a month or two, so if my connection there is just as bad, how do I go about moving back to a normal 3G connection? Do I just swap my card for a normal 3G one at any Vodacom shop?

And then the shop will let Vodacom know that I'm on the slower connection again right? And will they swap it for a new or used 3G card?

Thanx

Yes, you just go to a shop and do the swap to a 3G card, your account *should* update automatically.

But I'd rather see you (and everyone else) fly on HSDPA.

Can you PM me your current as well as new physical address?
