I haven't seen HSDPA speeds since April [when i actually got 800 kbits/s] , now i
generally get my old 3G speeds [100 kbits/s] . I considered going onto the cheaper packages , but it seems i must swop my HSDPA card back for a 3G one. [which ain't gonna happen, i'm not going to do the swop thing every month] .

So now the question is, if am paying more for HSDPA because i have an HSPDA card but never actually get HSDPA speeds , what can one actually do? [because i am paying for the speed afterall aren't i?] . Isn't this a big legal hole Vodacom are digging for themselves ? I mean sure, 3G are "cheaper" now, but in a few months people won't see it that way, they will see HSDPA prices as "premium" prices and 3G prices as the "standard" . So if you pay premium for something and don't get it, then Vodacom becomes more liable than if there were no price difference.

Hi everyone

I have been liasing with V3G on this issue and escolated it to some engineering/technical guys, hopefully they'll sort it out, my speeds seem to average 55kbps. I feel for all you guys, I know the frustration, I've got 45 to roll out to my mobile staff, but can't do that till I am assured this problem is solved.

By the way I got a Novatel Merlin U740 card, what cards do everyone else have.

Strange thing is, 3g speeds in the same area are good.

Hi,

I got the Merlin U740 also. Tonight the speed is REALLY bad, its way worse than the worst gprs connection ive had. And thats pretty horrible.

Card: Novatel Merlin U740 Location: Scottsville, Pietermaritzburg

Been fine up to now but tonight the whole setup seems "iffy" - I am not going to do a speed test (again!), costs  every time but just a week or so back I was getting speeds well in excess of 1Mb/s.
