HTC DESIRE HD

I had a very similar problem when I got my HTC Touch HD, it also had around 5/6 stuck pixels. I sent it in to Voda repairs, and after 10 days it came back - exactly the same. The repair docket said that they (LEAF) had upgraded the software... I mean, WTF does software have to do with the hardware LCD?

Anyway, I ended up taking it directly to LEAF at Cedar Square and handing it to their repairs manager. I got it back about 3 days later, with a beautiful new screen with NO stuck/dead pixels :D But then later I get home and start setting it up again, and guess what - No Wi-Fi
Took it back again, and it ended up being that the techie had not plugged in the Wi-Fi antenna.

I am guessing something similar in your case, either something got damaged, or someone forgot to plug in the antenna.

So I after 4 weeks, my phone has finally been returned with a new screen. No more stuck pixel. Unfortunately, however, my GPS no longer seems to work. I've tried google maps, co-pilot, even an APP called GPS Status. I get a rough location from cell tower triangulation but no satellite lock. If I go into co-pilot, after 20min I am still left with no lock. Every now and then it half picks up a single satellite but thats all. Anyone else had this problem before? GPS used to work before the repairs so I'm thinking that something happened during repairs. I have even tried restoring to factory default all to no avail. I really really don't want to have to send it back again! Anyone experienced something similar before?

I went through 3 HTC Diamonds. Didn't leave me with much faith in the brand. :(

The service was also terrible, got one of them back scratched to pieces.

Ok, I feel a bit stupid about this, but always wondered where's the silent mode on the phone.

So easy....just take the volume to minimum and it goes to vibrate mode. *facepalm*

:D

Or, you could use "silent mode" app from market.

Sent from my Desire HD using MyBroadband Android App

Which is in actual fact a pretty stupid way to do silent mode IMHO :) I do it from an app but you would think there would be a quick and easier way, apparently not :/

What does the DHD's standard ROM do when you long-press the power button? My HD-bastardised standard Desire gives me options to switch vibrate and silent mode on and off, as well as options to reboot (quick or cold) switch off or hibernate...

On the standard ROM you have only [Power], [Airplane mode] and [Reboot].

I do believe the silent option only is available from Android 2.3 +

My friend got a Wildfire the other day, I got to play with it a bit. It's like a DHD mini me but still fun to use. Not a bad option for those on a seriously small budget.

Not a bad phone at all, but the screen is a bit of a letdown. I think there's a Wildfire S being released in the near future.

*Whipped out my old iPhone 3G over the weekend to see if it still works & now I find the 3.5'' display way too cramped. Quickly switched it off and fired up my monster. I'm happy. :)

Talking about S's I wonder when they going to give the DHD some S treatment.
For me all they have to do is give it a TFT screen and a bigger battery and I will buy it up in a heart beat.

Pity on the Wildfire S they decided to give it a bigger screen and smaller battery :(

Im really worried that HTC have re-used the DHD design twice now for the Inspire and Thunderbolt, sure you can argue that the DHD is a rip off of the Evo 4G but they clearly look different where it matters. Its kinda sad, if you were a designer there isnt much room for reconfiguring a slate phone device in terms of design.

I wish HTC would just give us our updates. and give the phone market a rest for 3-4months :D

Just a question, I have some spare paypal dosh in my account, has anyone bought games from gameloft before? any other premium android game markets i can look at? Ive been playing gameboy roms off my phone for a while now, need me some native android games :D

My phones screen looks like its been through a war... my Tytn 2 screen didn't look this bad after four years, I think its because its flash to the body :p

I have bought HAWX, Assassin's Creed, and Nova via them for my Desire and actually waiting right now for my cap reset to get Modern Combat 2 and Asphalt 6 on my DHD that I bought last week. Actually I can blame Gameloft for my DHD battery not lasting, dam Modern Combat Sandstorm. Well worth it and remember to navigate via the product info page to purchase via other means, if you just select purchase from the list view they charge your SP account instead.

After some research I found http://slideme.org/. I have to admit I have not used them but will do some investigating as this might be an avenue for me to pursue as a developer for Paid-for apps
Also found http://onlyandroid.mobihand.com/ again will do some research and get back to you.
