I decided that I'm not going to wait, so I rooted my phone and flashed LeeDrOiD's GB ROM. It's running smoothly on my DHD, and from what I've read I will get better battery life as well.

Are hell , I don't want to root my phone just yet and I have to say I really like HTC sense , is there any way of getting the official version from Europe and then flashing it here.
 
has anyone gotten htc sense website to work track phone, call their phone and stuff ???
cause i still cant get anything and they keep telling its being investigated and will
be resolved soon ... really P!$$3d with them ... HTC

The guys that respond are local - not HTC international - I've lodged a complaint with the advertising authority as its listed as a feature of the phone and hasn't worked since December, and the idiots here keep giving the same BS excuse.

Doesn't work in SA, but you can use the tracking service from AVG free and others that does work.

AVG one even notify you via Email when sim changed. with all the options of calling the new number to wiping the phone via sms. It also is less likely to be removed by thieves as they see AV as a feature.

Edit: and yes tracking and all is included in the free findr service.

Thanx Elimentals def take a look cause the BS i been getting from HTC is seriously unbelievable.

awesome thanks bud , I will give it a shot as well just got to back up everything first lol any one know any good back up apps they have used with out rooting.

Real men dont use back-ups.....

Oh well may as well go for it myself, dont know when if ever OTA in SA will get approved...

UPDATE: Looks like it will change the boot and disable rooting.... something tells me I am not touching it as there is no way to root/downgrade once installed.

Download the EXE, make sure you have HTC Sync installed and go for it.
It is official and the same one you will eventually receive OTA in the year dot when VC get around to it.

Once done, install Gingerbreak to root your device. Then install ROM Manager from the market, use it to flash Clockwork and let the custom ROMs start flowing :)

My bad... You cannot get it from HTC direct - yet. I just assumed you could as it is an official update.

I downloaded already but also need a backup program for Apps, data and settings first.

You can root and then install the rom only using rom manager, but if you do a proper update that includes the hboot its a different story.

I dont want to go the root method as it will void warranty, but after the 1st year dont want to be stuck with an OS that cant be rooted.
 
It would seem like Leaf is the culprit in this story.

Apparently Vodacom got hold of the Desire update and just offered it to their customers OTA.

I think they should put some heavy pressure on Leaf to get their asses into gear. One has to wonder what do all the people at Leaf do?
 
If you buy a top end phone like this you probably don't need the warning... by the time you've finished researching and bought one... you know how addictive they will be.

Whats the story with HTC Sense? Will that be upgraded too? I see there is HTC Sense 3.0? Unless I'm imagining things?
 
Sense 3.0 will be on the new HTC Sensation (Pyramid). The HD will run Sense 2.1 after the latest software upgrades.

Me? Already running Sense 2.1/3.0 hybrid on my old Desire. :p

If it doesn't work, try with a blank domain. Otherwise just try every few hours; the google servers responsible seem to go on the blink every now and again.
