HTC DESIRE HD

sigh im still looking for a case for my phone, pref something with a belt clip ... any ideas???
I just hate walking around with the phone in my shirt pocket ... dont even dream of putting
it in my pants pockets :}

I read about an app that changes phone settings according to location information, e.g. turn Wifi on when at home automatically, disable when not, GPS , etc... anyone know what is called?

You can use tasker, you set up profiles and according to conditions it can activate/deactivate settings, applications ect.

I think there is a 7 day free trail availible: http://tasker.dinglisch.net/

hope it helps

I'm getting a score of 2069 with Quadrant Standard.....good or bad?

I have been playing around with Quadrant this weekend ... Here are my results
I have found that the scores tend to vary quite a bit ... I have had scores ranging from 1700 to 2200
I started averging 5 scores ... and make sure that you are not syncing ... that wrecks the scores ...

DHD with 1 million and 1 apps
1850

I reset to factory default
DHD with stock ROM
1950

DHD rooted with Leedroid
and automatic recovery of all apps
1975

My first score was 1905, then I plugged my phone into the USB charger and ran the test again = 2069.

Anyone care to share their exact Vodacom MMS settings? Might still doesn't work - even after adding the 0 to MMS proxy.

Mine just says Downloading the whole time, or gives an error.

Hmmm... it looks like that if you already have a data connection it keeps trying to use that, as soon as I force disconnected it, it downloaded the MMS message, any workarounds?

Also struggled a bit with the MMS, cos my phone decided it wants to get rid of all the zeros in the IP address of Vodacom's MMS server.

So, my phone listed the MMS IP as : 196.6.128.13 and not 196.006.128.013, like it should be. So, I just inserted all the missing zeroes and voila!, it's working.

Mine works fine and was downloaded automatically from Vodacom - Details below.

Have you tried *111# and then downloading the settings automatically?

Yip.... they recognize the phone as HTC ACE :p

Mine works, but only if I manually kill the current data connection.

My MMS wouldn't send at all till i called MTN, they disabled MMS and re enabled it and 2 min later i was sending MMS
without a single settings change :}

btw anyone know much about the whole rooting thing ... whats the big hoop about it?

Hmmm rooting a droid ...

For all intents and purposes there is absolutely no reason to root your DHD ...
The Stock ROM is pretty good and will handle pretty much all your requirements ...

One of the biggest benefits is to be able to install a custom ROM ... which can give some very cool tweaks.
RAM Optimizations
UI Tweaks
that sort of thing

However being a geek ... It took me a month to eventually surrendered to temptation and rooted my DHD and installed a custom ROM
I am currently running the latest Leeroid 1.4 ROM with the accompanying radio flash

My Quadrant scores are slightly better but not by much ...
But saying the ... I do have to admit that the interface is a lot snappier to the Stock ROM ...
scrolling through the apps is a fast beautiful blur ... :)
