HTC DESIRE HD

I have also been playing around with ebooks ...

Found a little free app called calibre http://calibre-ebook.com/
Manages your ebooks and converts between formats quite nicely ... eg pdfs to epubs
Can upso load the ebooks onto the DHD without problems ...

Think I'm getting old, nowadays I just want a phone that works out of the box.

And the Desire HD is that phone, but it's also SO many things. :)

Hopefully we'll get Gingerbread soon, but Froyo is cool on my phone. No hurry.

I agree with you completely ... The phone is brilliant ... (quietly brilliant) straight out of the box ...

BUT ....

It is so ridiculously easy to start playing with the guts of the system and tweaking etc that you just end up doing stuff just cos you can ...

I have to say again ... there is absolutely no reason to root or flash a stock ROM

My phone is amazing. Took it with me to watch the cricket on Sunday. Shot videos, photo's, played angry birds (SA was not themselves, ok!), and generally just showed off with my phone. (PS: Battery lasted till I got home just before 12!!!)

When low and behold, the guy in front of me is playing with his Desire HD!

This phone is so difficult to put down! I'm so glad I've got my wifi sorted, now I can really use my DHD to its potential!

Guys, we sound like the iPhone bozo's! They also just "love" their phones! At least we have something worthwhile to luv!

And why not? The Desire HD is a brilliant phone!

The only difference between us and the iPhone crowd is that we have the better phone & a much more usable screen. ;)

Ok, my phone just lost its "virgin" status.

I took it out of my pocket and it dropped on a tar surface. The front aluminium part is scratched now, but the screen is still intact.

Conclusion? It's quite a sturdy phone. :)

You should be pulled out in front of a firing squad and shot! You do not drop this phone! You have to dive in front of it and stop it from falling :)

Anyway, thanks for being the test subject - at least now we all know we have sturdy phones (not plasticky thingies like other people) ;)

Does the MyBroadband App use a lot of data? I don't use it much - at work I use my PC to access MyBB and at home my laptop.

Something is definitely up with my DHD. I left it at home this morning with a 100% charge at 11-ish and I returned at 5 pm to find it with 5% battery life remaining :wtf:

Maybe you can try this:
Menu >> Settings >> Applications >> Development ...
Make sure USB debugging IS checked

It uses less data than battery juice. :)

The My BB app used to kill my old iPhone 3G's battery.

Sent from my Desire HD using MyBroadband Android App

I went to Autopage in the Pavilion this past Tuesday to pick up my Desire HD. The lady opened the box (this seems to be standard policy with Autopage) and then tried to switch it on. The phone (naturally) wouldn't come on due to the plastic film surrounding the battery. She then tried to open the battery cover, to no avail. I asked her to leave it as I would take it home and do that. She ignored me, and passed the phone onto one of her colleagues who (you guessed it), also couldn't open the cover. He then broke the top cover of the phone, which covers the SD and sim card slots. Needless to say, I was quite pissed off. They have ordered a new phone for me, so I am waiting for it.

I finally received the call from Autopage and they say that my replacement phone is there. Gonna pick it up tomorrow. I told them that I don't want them to open the box at all; I just want to take my baby home.
