yes,bought it from lab88 .....+- R 7,300. plus courier..service.
(i think their stock,is up..sorry, only had +- 20,i think.)
i think " autopage " also had stock..not sure.?


just also wanted to say ..about virgin mobile offer..think..think...= R 320 pm. x 24....plus airtime.plus.etc etc.
well according to my calculator it works out to R 7,680 ..!!!(over period of 24 mths. that you pay)
yes, watch out for" eye candy ? " offers .....
take what you think best ...and fits your wallet....( eg ..contract ..)

my advice is to keep on reading this thread..!!!
sooner or later you are going to get a gap..!
i say its worth while, waiting and learning...!!!!

.....remember..by then i had it all ... financially ... planned .
unfortunately ..even if mtn......vodacom..... brings in stock ..later..stocks are going to be limited..!!

Hi Guys

I called 3 vodashops, vodacom customer care x 2, vodacom warehouse x 2, vodacom upgrade dept, htc retail store in vodaworld and vodaworld cust care.

Finally found out (told by one person, confirmed by another)

The HTC DHD shipment (expected this past week) to vodacom was hijacked/stolen (i don't know if this includes mtn's shipment?)

They say they should receive another shipment within the next 2 weeks (unable to give me exact date).

Don't know if this is just a bull**** story but its the best I could find out.

yes ,is good price if no " bloatware " included" .or no "applications" taken off.,eg. reasons for offering cheaper ?
eg..virgin mobile offer well i see a "vodafone wigdet " on front panel ..
tells me there is vodafone bloatware on ..??

i see on my stock DHD, there is no games included, but does not matter ,i have eg."angry birds game " running very smoothly..!!" and
guns and glory " etc ..
all very impressive.and running smootly.

further .."fast boot " is unreal...?
i say unbelievable .. i say 3..4 seconds maby ..5 ?
.....but unbelievable fast..!!!

on negative side, yes i see it is correct ,that camera outer lens, is slightly "misalign/skew",
but you have to have a good look ,it also does not affect the picture at all.
the 8 megapixels camera ,with 1 x optical zoom,is nice. ,!
phone feels solid..( no plastic feeling to it ),
a bit heavy, but a "nice/good feeling " to it if you hold it.

also some nice " live wallpaper " included on phone( options. ) but i think it could drain your battery..?
the capacitive screen is very , very sensitive....and responds well. on touch !

all i can say i have a written email from vodacom customer care dt..23 nov 2010 and i received ...this answer from customer care.
.i quote....

"As per our Procurement office, they advised there has been a delay with shipping the stock. The new estimated time of arrival is end of November.

A quick question about swype. I see it's also now available for symbian (ie my nokia 5800 is running it and I LOVE it). Do you guys think it will become available for the DHD in the future...?

just a quick observation about battery status .i referred to "stats " in my post #615

i did a simple" control test .."
,with wifi off, 2 g, sync off..etc
left phone for past 2 nights , 100% charge...sleep mode.. one stationary position....
battery usage was +- 85 /86 %...... after 9 hrs.....!!!
(works out to me... battery usage 1.6% per hour.. sleep mode ..no usage ?)
above is just an example..but yes, once you start using it ..(well then ,my htc touch hd was the same.)
it then starts to "eat " battery power..!!!!
(further , i must also add my son has the htc wildfire ..his battery usage at night ..same control test... ... after...+- 12hrs ... .. phone ,still showing 100% battery ) but you have to see it in context and remember this.....!!!!!

tonight i ,again did basic battery test,as described above..
well after +- 10 hrs , found battery % again showing 88% ...( this is the phone system showing this )
i plugged the dhd cable into power supply and power % immediate jumped/showed 97% full...!!!!!
it then started to charge eg..98%..etc, till full.( this did not take long,to me as this is also indication that battery must have been at 97% and not 88% )
note
battery usage for 10hrs, thus 3% and not 12 % ?
if correct ,not bad battery % usage..!!!!

i must add that i have seen ,most posts , on other forums ,advising that you have to charge battery over 10 days period , to get better picture and better battery life..??

well with this in mind, my observation is.......
battery must be conditioned properly eg..10days or an " bug " or just quiet reasonable battery drain= 3% for 10hrs ?
.i must also add ,when phone shows battery % ,it states the word "accurate " next to it on an
" battery widget "

just thought i put it on record /take note ?
for all of you guys ,when you get you dhd .....!!!!

Well, got the same story from 3 different people from Vadacom/Vadashop "First week of december if all goes well." I keep hoping somehow that changes to a date sooner, like now.
